I have no idea what these two things are in the corners of my dash by the window.

Anyone else know?

yea mate pics working, the first looks like a diode? don't know about the second, are they wired in or what? aftermarket alarm or something?

Yeh looks like an aftermarket alarm which shouldnt be good.

I have heard they can mess with the cars settings and begin to have a mind of its own as it confuses the car (With audi's anyway)

They are both wired in yes - but not sure what to haha

I dont seem to have an aftermarket alarm fitted - well at least I dont think so anyway. I thought all A3s came with factory fitted alarm/immob?

Well the left on is an LED, the right one looks like it could be a GPS ariel to me.

Why they are there is a whole new question - LOL

I would check if any wires connected to the black block
As others have stated it looks like a alarm or could be a GPS or some infra red device ?

The other looks as it could have had something cliped to it as i suspect there are no wires

I have an RNS-E installed, which was NOT factory fitted. Could the thing on the right be a receiver for the RNS-E GPS then?

If the thing on the left is an LED for an aftermarket alarm, should be be blinking when the car has been locked with the fob? I dont have any aftermarket fobs, just the oem one.

What function does the LED have with the RNS-E?!

What would the LED have to do with the RNS-E? And when should it light up because so far I have not seen it light up yet.

Sorry, i didn't mean that the LED was part of the RNSE

What i meant to say was:

Defo an LED. And also a GPS antenna which is used to the RNSE

I have my antenna there, only place it worked.

Yup. you can pull the cover off the end of the dash and put it in there, thats where the wire will go anyway but i couldn't get a good signal there. others have ..

The end panel on the glovebox side just un-clips it kind of hinges from the end closest to the windscreen on clips.

You could then see if the LED is wired up to anything.

I placed my rnse antenna on the underside of the dash in-between the centre two air vents have full reception their worth trying their if you wish to hide it.

my guess would be an extra led for the factory alarm maybe the old owner lived in a rough part of the country and the factory led isnt exactly bright is it lol just my 2p worth
