Hello,
Just noticed that one of my headlights is a different colour to the other. One is slightly whiter than the other (which is more yellowish). What is the best brand and temperature of bulb as a replacement.

Cheers Dude. That's the standard colour I think. I thought that might be. I think actual sunlight is something like 5000k so the 4300k will probably be the closest.

:)

As said above 4300K is the OEM bulb colour temperature. One thing to bear in mind when only replacing one bulb is that after time the 'colour' of the light given off by your bulbs changes slightly, so you could potentially have one bulb noticeably whiter than the other if you pop in a brand new OEM one. Phillips make special replacement bulbs called Colourmatch, which compensate for the fact that your other bulb will be a slightly different colour to the replacement one, so they match up perfectly :)

Think it may be worth to add that when purchasing, make sure the bulb has been built from a reputable manufacturer e.g. Philips.

Too many people i know have purchased cheap versions to only find 4-5months down the line they have lost their colour or have started to flicker.

Thanks a lot folks. I might just get a new pair save the worry about mis match.

Tried to install my new bulbs Yesterday...... What a nightmare to get out...... Once I finally got them out I found that they are actually D1S bulbs and not D2S bulb like I was informed by audi. Not impressed because while removing the existing ones I managed to damage the ceramic bit going up the side and cant use them again. Called Audi and they want £145 per bulb for replacements.

Ordered a pair from the internet with a 2 year warranty for £40 Only unfortunate thing is they won't be here until tomorrow.

Yeah 4300 is the oem version, but a 5-6k is a nicer whiter/blue tint, 4300 tends to go a tad yellow after a while, but 5-6k just about gives the same vision at night with a better colour, hids4u or ebay is the place & this was a recommended seller, I havnt bought but hey worth a goosy Tyre Shredders Road and Racing items - Get great deals on Xenon HID Bulbs and Holders items on eBay.co.uk Shops!

Something got me confused on this item:

PORSCHE Boxter 911 Cayenne XENON HID Bulbs D1S Pair NEW on eBay (end time 20-Mar-11 00:44:44 GMT)

He's asking £39,99 for the pair or £69,99 as in the item description?

TBH why you asking us & not the seller as we cant tell you can we lol.

LOL You're correct i just asked as you posted the link you might have some experience on this seller or know who did.
But i think it's £39,99 as all the other sellers have it at that price.

Regards

Out of curiosity, what happens if the ceramic cracks, will they still work or not?

I got mine from HID's Direct. Came with a warranty too. So if they do fail in a couple of months i've got some comeback.

If the ceramic cracks the bulbs can arc.... Or so i'm told.
