Audi Recall ( all petrol engines)

Spanky, they all look the same, its the part number that makes a difference, if they were the latest ones in your car anyway, theres no point changing them is there??

Typical. My car has developed a miss fire. Luckily enough My local Audi Dealer will be ringing me today to book it in for free! :)

I've just booked in my A4 2.0T and my mums TT 1.8T for the coilpack recalls at Camberley Audi on Friday :D Hopefully it might solve my rough idle and my mums CEL!

Anyone dealt with West London Audi? You know, the biggest showroom in Europe? They're my locals, just wondering if anyone has spoken to them yet and what they said?

Got my car done yesterday it took about 2 and a half hours no problems they put two bolts in my loose heat shield as requested for free and I have to say Audi really pricey but they know how to wash a car my wheels have never looked so good puts me to shame really!

They are local to me too. Im ringing up tomorrow so ill let you know.

Had my coil packs replaced by Nottingham Audi yesterday. Great service, nice receptionist :)eyebrows:), nice coffee and a great RS4 sat on the forecourt begging me to buy it. Shame I haven't got £30k burning a hole in my pocket...

Only did the coil packs, no software updates or diagnostics required. Just a visual "health check" and all they could find was perished ARB bushes (which I know about) and the fact that it needs a service in 800 miles (which I've already booked as usual with C&R Enterprises in Nottingham). Runs fine; I think the idle is actually a bit smoother now.

I'd washed my car the day before and so I politely declined their offer to wash it for me. Actually, when I arrived a couple of the sales guys commented that they were admiring my car; well, I had given it the full OCD treatment... :icon_thumright:

Had an A3 courtesy car - my God, I don't know what engine (petrol) was in it but I could have peddled it faster...! :lazy:

Took my 2001 Audi S3 with 129k on the clock to Boston Audi to pick up a spare key and get it programmed on Sat 05/03/11, on arrival they told me it was flagged on there system for the coil packs to be checked and would I mind if they did this! They changed all 4 coil packs free of charge. I left a very happy chap as I was planning on replacing them at somepoint as a matter of course

Done today at Macclesfield Audi.

Had the pleasure of rocking up next to another red 8l S3 as well!

Had my car in yesterday, they did a visual check, all was ok, just said my dipstick holder was snapped, and would be £103.75 to replace....now considering the part only cost £3.79 and I got it and did it in 10mins, i declined their offer to carry out the work.

In the end they only ended up replacing 1 coilpack, as all the other ones were fairly new, (which I knew anyway).

Oh and had the below as a courtesy car for the day....was done by lunchtime, so gave it back.

Was an Auto and quite nice, but surprised it didnt have electric seats, is this an optional extra on the 8P S3??

Nilz you lucky man!

I was impressed....did the dipstick funnel yesterday, I am however £3.79 lighter in the pocket but it did only take 15mins to do!!

Just had mine done at Blackburn Audi. I had two types of pack, 3 old ones and one I replaced about 12months ago, all got changed. I'm pretty sure 3 ended in "L" and the new one was "R"

According to the invoice (don't worry I didn't pay) the new part number is 06A 905 115 D. I haven't double checked with the actual packs yet though cos it's a bit dark!

It takes less than 5 minuts, 2 screws and to alen keys, pul/push and job done.

Has anyone yet had their APY coils changed for free? or any other bolt downs?

This was my favourite experience at an Audi dealer so far. I bought a dipstick holder for £3.79 a few months back and gave the guy a fiver in cash. So then he had to go scurrying around looking for £1.21 change for me; I don't think anyone had paid with cash in the dealership for a few years! Can't believe how much they wanted to replace it! I'm in the wrong job...

I all ways pay cash in the dealers and you right. I dont think any one else or at very little people ever pay by cash.
They are all ways ready with the machine. I spend more time waiting for my change than i do for my parts.

Den, why are they not doing yours?

ok i am a littel confused, I have an AGP i think, 1.8T (150) it has bolt down coil packs are these getting changed for free or is it the ones without bolts, i called audi but diddnt here anything

If the car has bolt down, they are not getting replaced.

The bolt down ones are fine, there are no issues with those ones, so dont worry about it.

Even the push down ones, only certain ones are getting changed, I only had one of mine changed, the other three I had in there are fairly new anyway and they said that they were revised ones anyway, so would be ok.

got mine booked in for wednesday how long did they take on every one else's hopefully get 4 new ones free of charge

Literally, just had all 4 of mine done with an all clear on the health-check and washed inside and out and total time was about 1 hour.

Happy days.

Mine weren't original coilpacks so I've had to change mine off my own back, but what a difference I heart my new coilpacks

As long as you have original coils, they will look into it, no Audi no changey!!

Takes about an hour if you wait there, I had a car and got a call about 4 hours later to say its been done.

Thanks to OP, Ayr Audi replaced all 4 while I waited (52 bam). Performance and mpg much improved, they reckoned the one's they took out were the original ones.

Booked my 1.8 B7 A4 in for a service today, and was told about the recall, will have mine done with the service. Getting something for free from em anyway...

Can anyone confirm the new and/or old coil pack part number that is written on them? I took mine in and after over an hour of waiting around, they gave me my car back (unwashed and without health check) and was told that they didn't need replacing. Not happy.

I did mine on Friday, got a new A1 1.6D, car was lovely i have to say, not so keen on the engine but then I haven't ever been a fan of diesels!
My car had them all replaced, nice clean inside and out, health check and even a top up of screen wash!
Great service and all for free :) Although my thermostat is now ******** as no matter how long i drive the car the temp stays at the bottom :-( 3rd one to go in 3 months!

Hi guys just to let you know, I booked my S3 in this morning free replacement coil packs and free courtesy car brilliant :)

Just had my 2002 S3 MOT done at Audi (free with the service from last year) and they have replaced all 4 coil packs. Picking it up tonight.
Usual up-selling conversation with the service department; "would you like some new front tyres fitted, they are very low?" - "NO it has just passed the MOT!". Same with the front ARB etc.

My local small Garage are still unsure whether my car needs them, has anyone with an AUQ engine code had them changed or are they fine??

Thanks

What utter, utter, utter crap. If it actualy was a recall then audi dealers would send out a recall letter to ALL audi owners and secondly it would be in the media.
Either show some actual proof and stfu ;-P

Reptor 245, My first thoughts mirrored yours exactly. My a3 3.2 hasn't had an audi service for 3 years, but they had to do a minor repair last week that my private garage couldn't manage and had deferred to them. Two days after i got the car back they rang 'my' garage and asked them to contact me regarding the coil pack recall. They gave me a number to call 0800 783 7800. My car had been in Audi Carlisle but that's a freephone number and may be nationwide ? Havent rang yet but worth a free call to check it out ?
Mick.

I replaced all 4 of mine 2 years ago with the push down type. Does anyone know if they'd replace mine? I don't really wont to drop it off to them if I won't get anything out of it.... Thanks

My 2001 AMK S3 has been into Cambridge Audi today. All 4 coils changed for FREE. Plus a free valet, and health check. The health check list did add up to £2300 though, but that did include 4 tyres which are being done next month anyway. I was aware of all the other bits on the list, so they weren't trying to rip me off. Obviously, I hope I can get them sorted for a lot less than £2.3k

Can't fault the service either, the workshop manager was very friendly and seemed to really love his Audi's. He didn't seem at all bothered that my car hasn't seen the inside of an Audi dealership for many, many years.

Thanks very much to the OP for making me aware of the recall. Getting free stuff from an Audi dealer has made my day!

Spoke to Audi in Carlisle and also Audi Customer Care and bothe have verified that my 1998 S plate A3 1.8T (AGU) doesnt fall into the recall.

Boooooo.

Here's a bit more info if it helps: my friends V-reg A3 with an AGU engine wasn't covered under the recall, but my colleagues 52 plate TT with the BAM lump is.
