Was thinking about carrying out a facelift conversion on my car but im thinking do it using rs3 parts rather that just the normal facelift parts..

What are peoples views on this? will it just be the grill that is different or other changes too? any advice would be greatly recieved..

Cheers:s3addict:

alright mate
thats a lot of work! its a total new front end... and as the RS3's front wings are made of carbon... its gonna cost a bomb!

Ey up jungleman mate.

Are the front arches any wider on the rs3 or same size? Was thinking maybee could roll the rear arches for a fatter rs look ...the headlights are the same aswell arnt they?

Do you know if theres any uprated headlights which have the led's built in?? better than a new full front i suppose...! questions questions...

RS3 front arches are wider than any 8P. If your car the same shape 8P2 as Paolo (Jungleman) Then the headlights are you want are not the same size and as said you will need to replace the whole front end. There are four members on here who have done this conversion and another one doing it.
There are no oem replica headlights only sh*t aftermarket ones and you be best keeping your oem xenons fella

EDIT: If you want advise on doing the 8P3 conversion pm either of the following user names P5SND, Killumanati, Joereynolds89, Dean's A3 and ~RS~ is in the middle of the conversion.

as Ash said the arches are a lot wider! think its 22mm wider per side then the S3 so youll me looking at at least 30-35mm spacers to get the stance right.. and thats a lot!

Cheers dudes.

Its a bit shallow, but when driving i just dont like the way the s3 facelift (see lots every day in Ldn) drivers look at the car then me (got prvt plate) almost in disgust about not having the facelift....! buckets make me feel a bit better about the situation tho..

May be i should just be happy now she feels amazing after the recent re-map...

TBH if there was decent aftermarket lights with leds that look like proper audi lights i would prob fit them and not bother with the new buper, bonett etc...i bet a lot of people would...

do what i do... bate them into a little bit of a rolling race and watch them cry as you leave them. and as well i personally prefer the pre-facelift so it doesnt really bother me

the old a4 to m4 traffic lights grandprix...! love it!!! theres a little bit of dirt when coming from brentford towars ealing under the westway that i can always get the back end out a bit...

Tell me im not the only one but the first thing i do (dont even realise im doing it now) is turn the esp off when i get in the car...i hate that thing! its dangerous!

haha it is a good one! have to say i dont think ive ever got the back end out, clearly not driving it hard enough lol

i generally leave it on because i cant be bothered to turn it off, did have it off when the snow was about tho when i was playing in car parks haha

One of the main reasons for getting the s3 was so i could get the back out..! i love it! i must admit i do drive like abit of a c0ck sometimes....i just get carried away...prob expalins why i snapped my propshaft...twice! (both done under warrenty...) phew..

Yes, s3's in the snow are great! with the esp off....you can actually get the s3 to drift on loose surfaces...like i said, i love it!!

Lol careful down there guys i know of a few people who have been lasered by our friends in blue!

I got lasered there a couple of years ago...took it to court and just denied it (doing 68mph in a 40.., its a 3 lane carrigeway ***...!) Case was dismissed because the piggie wiggies coudent produce a calibration cert to verify the hairdryer laser thing they use...NICE!!

Damn bro i wasnt so lucky! i got caught near texaco hounslow west by our friends in the 5 series!

6 Points, Revoke :( In court and i was doing 71mph)

Had to redo my test etc, My insurance has gone through the roof! Never ever again down great west road!

With you on this jungleman, much prefer pre-facelift. It's the one.

haha got to love the warranty!! well ive got the haldex controller on my shopping list... but that will be the last tweak that goes onto the car once its up to full power & ive got coilovers & ARBs on... then it should make it a little more tail happy haha

they really are... think there is a more purposeful and aggressive look to it

If you live / drive in London a lot i rekon its just a 'lottery' with regards to getting pulled over, people running across the rd in front of car (happened to me, they got sideswiped, hit the wing n wing mirror but would have been a lot worse full on front smash jobbie if not for the s3's great brakes...), other drivers hitting you, speed camera vans, undercover motorbike piggies etc etc....long gone ar the day of being able to spot an undercover piggie. Remember the astras with the black wheels and two aerials on the roofs....those were the days:busted_cop:

I get pulled on everage once a month. TBH usually cos im accelarating away quickly, draws attention - our s3's are loud when not in the car even as standard, have you ever heard one shoot past?lovely deep sound but understated, perfectly tuned note.....

Wanna hear my line, works most times....sorry occifer, I did pull away quickly but only to the speed limit and there isnt a law for acelarating quickly is there...! usually just get a ticking off...:eyebrows:

Very true, iv been good since the ban, it was 2 years ago but its settled my driving a bit for sure. Iv never heard the new S3s go by! might be an oppurtunity to keep an eye out for your car!

I know hayes/uxbridge have a lot of undercovers, one had a go at me at the lights once there were 2 officers in a older shape civic, He said i was going to fast when techically i was alot slower than him cruising at 35 in a 40. When i replied im doing 35 and your well infront of me he was like " DONT YOU DARE ANSWR ME BACK"

power trip lol, funnily enough we were at a redlight and a car from behind overtook me and jumped the same lights we were arguing on, i just pulled my window up and laughed as he just ran along to stop the other car.

Goes to show! they are driving civics to!

couldnt agree more about just being lucky, but there is also a time and place about choosing when to put your foot down and being safe about it, i never do it even remotely near a school or small residential roads, it just not the safest thing to do... and as well with roads like that your constantly power, brake, power brake, i much prefer it on a bit of country road where you get some good sweeping turns, heavy breaking zones and then get to power out, thats where i get my buzz! tho the 165mph i did (autobahn of course) was an experience!

haha you should hear mine of full chant & on gear change, sounds a million times better since the cat-back was fitted!

ive not been pulled in this yet... am quite surprised really, where as when i had my Alfa i was always getting pulled... tho it was red so stood out a bit more lol

RS3 parts are not for sale yet. And I've heard that they are not available if you do not own a proper RS3 ;)
Let the parts for the RS owners :)
Go for the S3 ones

Yeap, RS3 parts will maybe be restricted to vin producers only by some form of authentication & iirc you cant roll the arches on 8P's given the design, I looked into it.

NO NO NO. Ive just left had confirmation from a high up dude at west Ldn Audi that RS3 parts will be available to all! no need to own an RS3. AND you can roll the rear arches on the S3! Just left the body shop aftr getting my new wheels fitted. (19" TTS 5 split spokes..mmm mmm, they really fill the arches now... thread and pics to follow..!)

now this is good news!

There is no need to roll the arches unless you are going under ET41 on a 9J. And looking at the wheel you have, you will not need to. All that is needed is to remove the screw and trim the bumper bracket.

"All that is needed is to remove the screw and trim the bumper bracket" = Gonna do that 2mora! cheers Ian m8.

Whats that, about my new wheels or the RS parts! hahaha..:sly:

both haha! get pics up as i do like them wheels! or make a thread as i dont think ive seen a pic of your car!!

But the RS parts is the main thing im interested in...

Gonna try n make a thread later with pics n stuff. Im looking forward to the RS parts bin 2....mmmm:hubbahubba:

Nice.

The probley you are gonna have is the fact you are running 255 tyres! They are just too bug for an S3, switch to 225 or 235 to give you more room too.

225 will be slightly stretched on a 9J TT rim but they will be the better fit for the car.

Ive fitted 3mm spacers all round and as long as there is no one sat in the back of the car im not getting any scraping so far...touch wood, fingers crossed and all that but i know what ur saying..

Funny you should post this, as again today my dealer has told me they have an email from Audi that says the dealer cant provide RS3 parts to non RS3 owners, so we'll see what occurs soon when try to order them lol.

As for arches, they're double skinned afaik, I have spoken to variety of bodyshops & arch rolling specific companies & they all said the same thing, you really dont want to even try that as it could stretch the metal to a point of damaging the panel due to the design of these areas, now if you get yours rolled & show us a completed decent job, then I'll happily accept its possible, but atm, I'll take these specialists advise, no disrespect.

yeah it's great to do just finishing up doing mine .. I just need the front wings if anybody has them and will be willing to sell them I'm very interested . Thanks harry
