HOWTO: A must do mod - poly dog-bone mount!

i got a red one for my S3 that just arrived the other day so hopefully ill get a chance to fit it soon. i was gonna order new bolts from Audi and just change them when i do it

Yup, I had a few days of very little vibration but I've done about 1000 miles now and they have gone now :)

Well i fitted one of the red powerflex dogbone bushes today to my 2001 AMK S3.

it was a really easy job and seems to have made a big difference, gear changes are alot better and sure enough it feels more stable. and i didnt notice any extra vibrations in the cabin

the old bushes were in a bit of a state, i could rock the bottom of the engine back and forwards (just) with the old ones in and with the new ones its solid

DO IT!!!

great wee mod for under £20

yeh thats what i currently use but thought there might be a centre point somewhere as i only have 1 3 tonne jack

Are the bushes the same, was going to order from the powerflex shop online but it returned several options with different price's, is the mk4 golf one at the top of the page the same as the audi A3 one as its cheaper

Powerflexshop.com

I ordered mine on payday (along with a few other bits and pieces - yellow 007p spring, new N75 and R32 ARB)... so it should arrive soon.

I'm changing my transmission fluid too so gearchanges should be a breeze...
...will report back with first impressions.

So just to confirm, as I'm about to order one of these, the red diesel bushes don't cause on going vibrations in the dash.....?

I still have a vibration at 1100 revs when the car is warming up and idling but its fine after that. I think something must be slightly loose somewhere. Also bare in mind that I have had my whole dash removed when trying to track down an alarm fault a year ago.

I ordered the diesel one yesterday from Euro Car Parts and its costing me around £15.00 it says on the Powerflex website £23.94 the part number is PFF85-420R have I ordered the right part as there seems to be such a difference in price!

Easy to do, 10 mins once the car is jacked up. I replaced all the stretch bolts also.....defo no more than 10-20 mins for someone with a little wrench awareness.

Do you have the part numbers handy for the stretch bolts ? thanks

just thought i would tag on the end of this and say i did mine yesterday. what a difference! acceleration is immediate and less hesitation with a bucket load less engine movement! brilliant.

I was also a pikey and packed out my existing one with 1/4 plastic rather than buy the polybush one. seems a method the goof boys use a lot and worked for me...but for how long... :)

Had mine done last Monday-along with other bits like EGT sensor and pipes under manifold-ouch. Vibrations still present on idle but I've only done about 400 miles so I'm assuming they will die down. Gear Selection is way better and car feels a lot tighter to drive.

Ok I finally fitted my bush today was a bit worried on how to get the mount back into place as it took a lot to get back into place behind the engine got it in to place ok but driving the car now feels more firm when changing gears and the power delivery is a bit better!

A great little mod this one, makes a world of difference to the car.

Surprised this even needs a how to thread though...It's 4 bolts :lmfao:

Unless of cause yours ends up with a snapped bolt, like most (and mine! haha!)

Fitting this tomorrow, now unless I'm having a Stevie Wonder moment, I can't see the torque settings...

Nope, it's definitely not there now, No David Blunkett moment on my part!

The link that might have had them in, has expired..

13mm bolts should be 20Nm.
16mm bolts should be 40Nm.
The compression nut should be 20Nm + 1/4 turn.
