"A3" registration...

I was driving the other day and saw a very standard looking 8P2 A3 with the private plate "A3".
It looked very weird, mainly because it just said "A3" in the middle of the plate with a massive space on either side.

It looked like a showroom plate had just been left on it! (which I thought was the case, so I did a bit of internet detective work and the plate A3 is actually registered to an A3.)

Anybody else seen this car? I saw it in London. I wonder how much this reg cost.

Someone with more money than sense undoubtedly... Was the Car de-badged perhaps and the owner needed to be reminded what model it was ;-0

All it had was A3 on full size plates, front and back. That's why I thought they'd accidentally left showroom plates on it and was on a test drive or something.
Looked odd.

Reg A3 should of been on a Blue Sportback Sport TDi....
The reg A4 is on Volvo D5 which must look a bit weird!!!

PEN 15 used to be on a trans am in london, belonged to an arab.LAB 1A was the one i really wanted , but has never been issued...ive tried applying to dvla for it under various guises, but they wont have it.I did bid on 69 ME a couple of years ago on a dvla auction, but it ended up at 14K and I couldnt justify it.Couldnt get V11 LVA either.Spoilsports.

Bit odd having such an expensive plate on an A3 but tbh it probably belongs to them/their family and they probably just dont want to sell it so put it on their A3 for the time being.

I remember years ago "A1" went for a quarter of a mil

Whenever i drive down Chelsea embankment (cheyne walk) there is a driveway with a Aston and a AMG Merc with "2 BE" and "NOT 2 B" next to each other looks pretty sweet.

I've seen a M3 CSL plate on a M3 CSL on the way out of london once.
Also seen a NA51 plate on the M25.

Mate had Porno on his GT3.

I like some private plates, Like M3 CSL on a M3 or converting R13 MWR to R BMW R and so on. Some I just dont get, Like my private plate, R89 YTU.

I saw a woman on the motorway with B11 TCH, it was on a Porsche Boxster.

and around leicester theres MR51 NGH (Mr Singh) on a Convertible Phantom. Heard that plate went for half a Mill !!!!
