The "Rimz" Thread ** Look here before requesting pics of specific wheels**

Guys, does anyone know the best place to get a set of BBS Ck;s 19" for my S3, I have been on the wheelbase website, just wondered if there were any cheaper places or anywhere else that people know about.

Cheers

Personally I wouldnt have anything with wheels diamond cut, fair do's if some people do it very good but it's just a matter of time before it fails or get some sort of spidering.

Someone i know has a 300c one year old all four wheels have failed, he's had them replaced but not the point.

Fair enough Warren, I never had any problems on my car, but then I always clean, wash, wax and look after them! I wouldn't run bare mirror polished rims on road..

Yeah they will have alot better chance Doing what you do and sealing alot.like you said bare polished metal just isn't pratical, polished and lacquered isn't good but out of them I guess diamond cut is better but still have the chances. You can get a chrome paint but it just doesn't give the full effect. Just a hard choice when you want to do some wheels justice.

I do have diamond cut and lacquered lips myself so I can't talk but I know to expect it to happen.

I know I shouldn't mess with it Rye, but getting restless. Now the car's staying I think I need to fettle with it to satisfy my curiosity. Plus, I need to get the alu mirrors back on so need some silver in them there wheels!

I'm looking at a drop too and the CK's are et44, so something that means no rubbing and no 215 and I'll be happy. Can't run stretch round here at the mo, it's like the surface of the moon!

does that mean CK's for sale?

Not decided anything yet bro, need to get a new set sorted first. I do feel I need to hoard, so may keep them yet and start a mad collection!!

Can't sleep! Dakar? Diamond cut? Polished? Silver centres? 215's? 225's?

Well you know polished is a every other day clean and seal thing, so unless you want to do that then get diamond cut. I really like all silver but a hint of gold would look cool for the centres?

Interested to see what you finally decide on gynads.
I have a Sprint Blue S3 as well and not sure what direction to go with some 19's.
Had not considered the Speedlines but thinking a titanium finish centre with a polished lip would look pretty great.

I think that's what I'm going for Poli, as I'm skinto, and looks like im going to have to upgrade the clutch early, as stage2+ has finally caught up with it ,I'm leaving the centres till they come off for the winter. i think they will look good as the car has a polished grille etc and the Matt/satin look of the mirrors.

Now hang on, that's 3 Sprint Blue's looking all trying to decide on coloured centres for Speedlines!! We're not going to have individual cars any more!! Poli, you running optics pack?

G, you can check out our colour choices, see if they work before you get yours done. Just remember to be complimentary!

Don't worry about me.
Firstly, i'm all the way over in Australia where the Speedlines are not a common wheel.
Secondly, my first priority for wheels are some TTRS/RS3 wheels.
As a secondary choice, 19" C6 RS6.
Had never considered the Speedlines though.
They have long been one of my favorite Audi wheels.

Nah, no optics pack for me unfortunately.
Black out grill is in the pipe line but have far too many engine and suspension mods to do before i get there.

I wouldn't run bare mirror polished rims on road..

I agree with N8, mine are a pain to keep clean and shiny, unless you are happy to polish them every week don't even think about bare mirror polished rims, and they are only suitable for summer!

As for peoples queries about 215 or 225, if you are going for a 9" rim then 225 is by far the better fitting, but don't even bother with a 9" rim if the offset is below ET45 if you don't want to do arch mods or have some rubbing. I found 215 on a 9" to be too stretched for my liking, many others run this but I just didn't feel happy on it. My car is about as low as you would want to go on a hard slam and I get minimal rubbing on the rear with 9x18 ET42 with 225/35's, and I still have the arches to do, but do run over -2 degrees of camber.

Thought I would add mine, OEM but in anthracite. Winter rims, got something different planned.
