Hey Guys,
Advice needed..

My 2005 A3 2ltr TDI 140, needs a full service, I want all the usual done plus cambelt.
Its on 110k with limited history so I thought I would do everything in one go.
The previous owner didnt really look after it and im unsure what has or hasnt been done.
Ive owned it 2 months.

What would you recommend me doing along with the cambelt?
Ive heard getting the DSG transmission fluid changed? water pump?

Plus im in search of a local (Leicester) Audi specialist who can do all this.
Anyone used Lion Garage?

Thanks in advance

If you don't know when the last DSG oil and filter change was done (it is due every 40K Miles) have them done as well, make sure you have the water pump changed with the cambelt. Have a full change of filters with the oil including the fuel filter. Just watch when you have a quote done that it includes genuine Audi parts and that the DSG oil change includes the filter.

That should do it.

Paul

Its gonna be pricey fella, just had the same done on mine

Full Variable Service at Audi - £170 - Audi Dealer (just keep the FASH)
Cambelt and W Pump - £380 - Midland VW Specialist
DSG oil and filter - £140 - Midland VW Specialist

My credit card took a hammering!

Yeah I know :crying:, but it needs to be done.
I bought the car fairly cheap so it wont hurt me as much when I get this done...

How was Midland VW? ive seen some good recommendations for them??

...and the cambelt and DSG oil change won't need to be done again for another 4 years (depending on what mileage you do).

You probably want to get your brake fluid changed as well. If it hasn't been done for some time it'll have moisture/water in it, reducing its braking ability.
Think it costs £70, off the top of my head.

Think it costs between £70-£100, off the top of my head.

Ill add Brake fluid to my list...
Thanks Aythree

im goin to get my DSG oil and filter changed now seeing this post .... how much is the oil and filter from the stealers?

just priced it from tps £95+vat for oil and filters :/ damnnnnnnnnn

Think you need a special tool to do it too.
I wouldn't much about with it myself. If your dsg box ever fails and you are hoping for some sort of goodwill contribution from Audi for a replacement/repair then you can kiss that goodbye if you've attempted the oil change yourself.
For the sake of £70 get one of their guys to do it, IMO.

Another price change..... its £49 for a brake fluid change.
Just remembered..... they tried to charge me £70 as per their normal book price, but if you point them to the "fixed price servicing" on their website you will get it for £49.

A quote I got from Midland VW:

Full/Major Service £160
Cam belt and water pump £310
DSG oil and filter change £120
Brake fluid change £40

Not bad but im still going to get some more quotes before I get it done

Morning mate, I would highly recommend Midland VW, ive had 2 cambelts done there and they are brilliant, the workmanship is excellent and they are honest....

Also I see you are in Leicester, I called Lion Garage and found them quite expensive, I have however seen ALOT of recommendations for R-Tech who are based in Hinckley, which is only up the road for you, give them a call, tell them you are off the forum and they will look after you.

Let us know how you get on.

Heard alot of good stories about Midland VW, I am definetly considering going there.

Ive not had a quote from Lion Garage yet but theres no harm in trying, i'll check out R-Tech now you mentioned it.

I'll post all my quotes on here when I get them :icon_thumright:

Yea cool mate, the impression I got from Lion, was not as enthusiastic as Mid VW and R-Tech, but as you say its worth a try.

Been great with me for a number of years. Most of my family own VAG and they all use the place too.

A Quote I got off VASSTECH Auto Services in Rugby:

Full Service: £209.00 (less 10% off first service with us = £188.10)
Cambelt Renewal: £282.00
Water Pump Renewal: £45.00
DSG Oil & Filter change: £166.00
Brake Fluid change: £40.00 (10% off in March = £36.00)

Total: £717.10

Did you get in touch with R-Tech??

Yeah i rang them, they said they dont do servicing and repairs.
Only tuning.
