Have to agree with him there Ol you an see its not for the 3door hatchback just by looking at it.
I am sorry to hear this fella hope you sell it asap and get the correct one.
Good luck

you numpty lol. i take it i'm not meeting you tomorrow to have your sensors off you now...

Unlucky but you can clearly tell because of the way the bootlid falls vertical to the 3 door bumper and the was it has a bigger angle on the cabby bootlid area

How can you guys tell the difference between the 3dr and convertible bumper?
I'm looking at the two and I am struggling.
What are signs??

it's just a different shape. look at enough and you'll be able to tell.

the major clue is the little holes where the tailgate shuts. the 3dr doesn't have these

i made a misstake like that once i bought a full frame bumper for my car wanting to do the 8p2 s-line front conversion and bought one for a 8p3 model was not amused at all but put it back on ebay and got what i paye for it so not all bad

Did you ever find out if the 3dr and convertible rear bumpers share diffusers??

nah. the bumper i was gonna view had been sold before i got a chance. i was gonna physically fit it to the facelift bumper i have be 100% sure

as it stands i'm only 99% sure

99% is pretty sure.
Call audi and give them the reg of a facelift 3dr and an s-line and get them to confirm the part on each???

i asked Dave on Stoke Audi a few days ago but he hadn't replied when i last checked. tbh i haven't been on much lately because i've got my job applications due in soon for next year and i've had girl trouble so other things have been taking priority!

Yeah saw u asked him. Just checked and still no reply.
Noticed you ain't been around much lately. Sorry to hear about the girl trouble, welcome to the club!

yeah i just checked too. tbh i'm fairly annoyed that bumper had sold. at £80 it was a bargain, i could have thrown away the convertible bumper and kept the valance and it still would have been a good deal.

lol not sure if it's a good or a bad thing if my absence has been noticed. do i really cause that much trouble on here?! and thanks for the welcome, but i've been here a long time. this one was a proper mindf*ck tho.

Thank god for this thread!!!!!
I think i've got a ****** cabrio bumper too!! It's got the holes you mentioned.
You 100% sure this means its for a cabrio???

Does it mean that the one Sarah had is also for a cabrio??? ---------> http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/new-a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/96632-rear-bumper-advice-needed-pls.html

she did. she had to swap it out for the right one.

i got the 8P3 sensors for the bumper tho, so i'm semi-happy for her mistake!

Christ!! I was on the verge of getting it painted up too.

Just called the guy I bought it from and luckily he's got a proper 3dr one available also.
To be fair, he's a decent guy, and was interested to know the difference between the 3dr and cabrio bumpers. I told him aboout the holes and straight away he recognised the difference.
Gonna pop down to him tomorrow and swap it for the correct one. He's got a standard diffuser now also so i'll pick up that too until I get hold of an s-line one off of ebay or somewhere.

This thread has saved me a lot of time, money and pain.

Good to see he happy to sort out the problem for you fella :)

lol plenty people seem to do this, i nearly bought one myself when i was at this lads whos has lots of decent bumpers, i was looking at a cab one then i realised the shape was different, i was shocked and so was he, he was pleased i mentioned it though as he ended up getting more money for it ha ha

Yeah when I was buying all I looked out for was the flat edge where it meets the rear lights (i.e. non sportback).
Cabrio's didn't even figure in my mind.
