Hi folks,

Looking to fit a Westfalia detachable to my B6 S4 Avant , is this the correct one, the reason i ask is i've heard that a standard A4 Avant fits but this one states (Excl S4)?

Also will the standard electric wiring that comes with it be ok with the canbus gubbings

Cheers.

Can you tow with an S4, I think there are overheating problems....

From what i have read, its to do with the gearbox / engine and only really if your towing the maximum up a huge hill for a long peroid of time......BUT i'm no expert and there is also guys who have fitted towbars and towed with no problems :)

That's what Audi claim - but I've heard of several S4 and RS4 owners that tow and none of them have reported any problems with overheating.

Cheers guys, apparently as long as the towbar fits an A4 Quattro then it sould be fine. Thanks Scott i'll ask for the smart relay when i buy the bar.

insted of tapping into the back lights like you would do on some cars for the trailer lights, you wire in whats known as a smart relay/bypass relay this only uses the feed to the lights as a signal wire thus not drawing any current from the cars circuit so it wont put any extra load on the car and will stop warning lights appearing on the dash, basicly its 8 switching relays condensed and updated with new electrics into a space a lot smaller than what 8 relays would take up, the main reason for it is to not over load the canbus circuits on a car

So the kit arrived and it looks pretty impressive, just need to wait till we have a spare evening to get it on the ramps :)

would give your self a good few hours to fit and wire it all up, useally give myself a few hours to do a B6 avant towbar and thats with over 8 years experince of fitting towbars day in day out.

one thing i would recommend you get is 2 m10 nuts, lock washers and round flat washers about an inch in size (all m10 size) as this saves removing the rear exhaust and heat shields, plus saves reviting plates to the chassie, there is access holes in the heat shield to get nuts onto the bolts.

if you need any advice during the fit just drop us a message
