I have seen a few posts recently mentioning rusting panels............I was of the distict understanding that these are galvanised and zinc treated, so the opportunities to rust should be pretty minimal unless a wing for example is replaced witha non Audi replacement. Am I dreaming this? !!

They are galvanised
but sometimes the inner arches rub the wings and arches which eventually get through the galvanised coating
thats why you sometimes get a little rust .

It just slows the process down , doesn't stop it, front wings are the only rust issues on B6's due to poor design on the ineer lip of the wing, if you have any visible rust there at all get yourself down to Audi as they're still repairing them under warranty

Sorry to be stupid, but I have this problem. What would I say when I went in, "My wings are rusting and it's meant to be galvanised, fix it (please)."

My front wings have rusted through, and am losing paint from them. took it into Audi last Friday to get looked at on warranty and they took all the photos and paint readings needed (to prove it's never been sprayed/stone chipped/damaged etc)

Waiting to hear back, should of by now. Hope they will pay 100% on warranty.

That will be a brilliant result if they do! They're normally a bit shy in admitting responsibility in these matters from what I've read.

I am not sure if audi would do it unless you have a full audi service history, i've seen on here before that audi say that if you dont have it serviced with them they cant check your paint and catch rust at early signs (just to get out of doing it) east kent audi do this alot.

They will do it if you moan on enough, in fact they will do almost anything if you moan on enough, they should be checking paint depths on the affected panels, if these are still original then you can argue with them as much as they want but they gotta pay, obviously if it's had paintwork by a non-approved bodyshop they can't be expected to pay also when you get the car you have a "duty of care" to report any defects regarding rust as soon as you see them otherwise they'll not pay for that either. There is also what they call an "empowerment team " at Audi who can authorise repairs and you can negotiate with as they can get a "goodwill contribution" where you pay 30% of the repair cost. As far as the servicing goes then obviously if you've spent money with the brand previously they'll try their best to help you out as it's good for customer retention, but the warranty is with the car not the owner so they don't have a leg to stand on where thats concerned

I'd be interested too as there is a little patch of rust appearing in my os front arch. I'm certain I read somwhere that they will only pay if the rust goes right through

The panel will only be replaced if there is perforation but if it's starting to rust get yourself along and get the process started, we've got 2 in at the moment and a 52 plate A6 which has rusty gutters so theres plenty people still getting stuff done!

Some of you guys are lucky to have a good audi dealer, east kent audi would'nt give you the sh1t off the bottom of there shoes and they ignored me for about 25mins when i took mine in for work but went straight to a nob in a suit probs thought they would make a sale with him lol

Would the repaire be covered under the anti corrosion warranty or would I have to pay??

It depends really on what the rust looks like, the way they designed the inner fold on the wing is a trap for mud, water, salt, general crap to gather behind which is what causes it to rust add that to stonechips etc and it's always gonna happen, if it looks like it's coming from the inside out along the majority of the underwing then the repair would probably be fully covered under the warranty, if there's a hint that it was caused by something else (ie.rust in one specific spot underneath would suggest a stonechip you might have to pay 30% contribution towards it. Alot of it depends on the warrany guy who takes the pics etc, better pics clearer few better result
