I'm going on a 13 hour flight in a few weeks and I'm trying to decide between Singapore Airlines and British Airways. Comfort is a must.

I've googled it but as usual opinions are split.

Anyone flown both, or even just Singapore Airlines??

Flew to New Zealand with Singapore Airlines via Manchester - Amsterdam - Singapore - Auckland. 28 hours in total with a short connection at Singapore. Fantastic could not fault them at all and pretty stunning cabin crew as well.

Did Zimbabwe and South Africa a few times with BA and the same apply's i could not fault them either.

After nearly 4 weeks in Zimbabwe and beginning to miss everybody back home, believe me to see a British Airways 747 all lit up on the tarmac at Harare Airport is a very comforting sight.

Dont think you will go wrong with either. who's the cheapest ???

Yeah I've heard that the 'Singapore Girls' crew are very pleasing to the eye.

Price wise, sing air is about £500 cheaper, that's for business class. Cost isn't really an issue though as work are paying.

I've heard that sing air's seats in biz class are too wide. Apparently they're the most spacious of any airline, but so much so that you can't rest your arms on the side armrests at the same time!

I'm swaying towards Sing Air I think.

Not been on Singapore airlines at all and not been on British Airways for many years.

But when I was last on BA they were atrocious! The food was ***** and the service was just as bad tbh. We was going to Australia and when we got to America BA said that was as far as they go!! Where like WTF!! lol
Anyway Pan-Am then took over and took us to Oz. What an improvement. The food was excellent and the service to match.

So I have had a bad experience with BA but nothing to say that they are anything like that nowadays. But given a choice I would probably go with another airline :)

Have you written a review on one of those travel sites??? I swear I've read about the same scenario!!

Have heard that BA's service lacks at times. But have also read that although Sing Air have a good reputation they have been slacking a bit lately.

What about Virgin... anyone flown with them long haul???

I flew to the States on Virgin a fews years back and got upgraded to Upper Class - it was amazing. I should imagine things are even better now with the bed seats etc.?

Singapore Airlines all the way, superb service, great food, always (99%) on time. Only flown business class so not sure on Economy. I'm actually flying out to Vietnam via Singapore in a months time! I refuse to fly with BA, can't stand them. You may want to look at Emirates and Qatar airways, they are both great as well, Etihad is also good although not all of them allow alcohol on there if you fancy a glass of wine (Qatar I dont think do). Virgin are ok if you are lucky enough to get the newer planes, older ones are *****!

How did you find the business class seats?? As mentioned above, I hear they are TOO wide. Also pretty hard too. True???

I had a look at Emirates last night. All the flights to Singapore have a stop off in Dubai, which is a nice thought. Only problem is that all of the stop offs seem to land at midnight and the connecting flights are at about 7am. Not great. Would've been better if the time in Dubai was midday until late evening.
Works out about £1.5k cheaper than BA and Sing Air direct flights though.

Nope never written a review as siad it was a long time ago though, tbh it was around 30 years ago now :sadlike: But still sticks in the mind.

I would use Virgin thet just look so professional and looks like it would be so much more comfortable and enjoyable :)

Ive got a great powerpoint pres that shows differant airlines first class, how do i attch it to a post, or how do i copy the stills from it please, then i can show you how the other half live!!!

The Sing seats are fine, no different to any other airline bus.class to be honest. They are big seats but you get pillows etc to wedge yourself in!

Virgin is ok but wouldnt say they were the best, the service is good and the airport lounges are great, especially Heathrow, i've only ever flown to NYC on virgin bus. though not Singa.

Not flown Sing airlines, but done america with both BA and Virgin, business class both times.
Virgin wins every time hands down, just can't fault them tbh.

Flew Singapore Airlines Buisness Class on my Honeymoon to Indonesia stopping off at Singapore. Couldn't fault them, great seats, food and service.

Where did you go in Indonesia mate? I've literally just booked the Conrad Hotel in Bali for a week after I finish work in Vietnam!!

Had 10 days on Java and then a week in Bali, loved it!

I don't know about Sing, but I avoid BA club class like the plague - I hate that club world top-tail thing they have going on (this applies to transatlantic stuff). However, their lounges are usually top notch.

Ridiculous innit!? Even though it's not my cash I was a bit miffed because I was checking the prices 10 minutes before I actually booked and it was coming up as £4,200.... I went to look one more time on BA's website, found nothing, came back to Sing Air and the exact same flights had been hiked by £300. They're having a laugh!!

BA were charging over five grand.

Don't how these airlines can charge this amount of wedge. It's crazy.

Brilliant. Great service, great food, great looking hostesses.
Singapore is pretty great too. Just trying to strike a deal on a camera as I type! The geezer's just gone to work out his margins...

Think I'll stick with sing air I think. The flight times are better than other airlines when flying to sing too.

The camera was a cheapo Ixus 130. Worked out at £40 more than you can get it in the UK so left it. I swear the guy was going around the corner to another shop and buying it from them to sell to me!!

I'm looking in to flights for NZ and OZ, I hope poor class is as good as business.
I'm not spending £4500 to see family and friends. lol

Lol. I did have peep at the peasant section and it looked ok to be fair. I've seen and travelled in economy seats which are a lot less spacious than sing air's.
I'd recommend them for any class of travel.

A couple of photos of Singapore.....

The airport makes Heathrow look like a pile of steaming *****:

That place looks stunning.
Does make our airports look a bit bland and dull.

Pure putang or are they hiding a sausage?

100% puntang those two. But I did see a few sausage smugglers.
Good thing is, if you're not sure whether they are really female (and with some of them it is VERY hard to tell) you can ask them to prove their sex and they'll happily let you take a peek inside their knickers!
