Audi Recall ( all petrol engines)

as i have no faith in audi i tried another local outlet who confirmed that my car is not on the list.

interestingly he did say it had one in 2003 where a brake pipe was replaced.

I asked him about the paint also and he said that it was within the 12 years but only if it had full audi service history. His reasoning is amazing! If I am loyal to audi by getting them to service my car, they will be loyal and will repair my roof! for real!!

Yeah, that's bullsh*t. Doesn't have to have full Audi SH from what i've heard.

When I take mine in for the coilpacks on Saturday morning i'll be taking it to their bodyshop to get them to look at my drivers door rust under the warranty. Mine had FASH until I bought it, so has one independent stamp in the book... will see what they say!

Ok so im booked in for next week as well, just rang to see what courtesy car I am getting, either a new S3 or an A3 Cab, either way, I cant grumble, knowing my luck, by the time I get home, they will call to say job done!! LOL

Thanks for the heads up guys.
TT booked in next week...

Just got my car booked in at Edinburgh Audi for the 7th of March and have been told its free and i'm getting a free health check too :yahoo:

Just been onto Blackburn audi. Just need to pin our lass down to a day she can take it in and jobs a good un. Will be looking at small fleck on roof too ;)

Nice one johnny for the heads up!

Mine's booked in at Audi Tonbridge tomorrow. Apparently they will do it whilst you wait but i'm going to leave it with them for the day. Just hope mine haven't been replaced at any point.

Should be pretty interesting to see what else they mention with the old "complementary health check". Probably a couple of grands worth I'd imagine!

Great work on the heads up though lads! It amazes me that some people still don't know about ASN! It's a ****** gold mine!

Just booked my S3 in my local audi dealership for the 3rd of march to have my coilpacks changed and a free health check.

Anyone who has bought a set of coilpacks which fall within the group audi are recalling back should claim your money back as they should have been free.

Thanks very much for the info, OP. Much appreciated. Will be giving Audi in Aberdeen a call this week.

They wouldnt give me an s3 :-( I'm under 25 so they said it would likely be an A1!
Looking forward to trying it but I'd love a new s3 for the day!

Result! Just popped in to my local stealers on the way home from work and booked mine in (2001 AMK) for the coil packs - thought i'd try my luck with the rust bubbles on the roof rails and they seem pretty confident that that will be covered under the 12 year anti-corrosion warranty too! They just measured the paint thickness all round the body with a little hand-held device and took some photos to send away to see if it constitutes a claim. And I get a courtesy car for the duration! Cheers to S3 Johnny!

Looks like we are getting some good results, well done to the OP for bringing this to everyones attention :)

Fantastic thank you OP, il give them a ring 2moro :D Has there been any other recalls i could ask about in the past couple of years or could i ring and they could look it up on their systems to see if mine has had them done? ;D

It seems the dealers have a list of car regs that need to be done. Simply call the service dept and they should be able to give you an immediate answer whether your's is on the list or not. Mine's being done on Sat and I'm surprised as it's an import.

I'll be calling the Audi dealership in Bath tomorrow to see if my 1999 1.6 can get it done, happily let them do it for free :)

ayfreetee
i had my roof rail done for free at taunton audi thats on a 99 plate only had the car a week as well.
plus got a brand new A4 s-line for a week

My car was in for MOT/service in January and they didn't mention anything (well not nothing, they gave me the usual ££££ advisory list). I'll be on the phone in the morning to see what's what either way.

Maybe it's worth listing the successes and failures of everyone who tried so we can see if any specific cars are more or less likely to be sorted (based on year, model, mileage etc), and if any dealers are causing problems anywhere?

well done to the op i shall be giving cardiff audi a call in the morning hopefully mine is on the list for the recall

I have an AKL with bolt down packs, so should I be alright?

cud i go the the VW dealer as theyve delt with my familys audis all their life aha ? would be handy as my cars gt a crack in one othe the packs haha

I've just booked my A4 (BEX engine) in for next week - sweet!

Has anyone had any success in getting the old ones back as "spares"?

Mines booked in for coils on tuesday the 1st, apparently i wait and it'll be half an hour.
Hopefully mine wont have been changed and i can have 4 nice new ones :)

A3 aum 1.8t

We will see

Can someone confirm what coil packs are being recalled? As some poeple said the bolt down coils aren't in the recal even though some people have had their 8L S3 coils replaced n I thought all 8L S3's had the bolt down coil packs?

Mine's a 52 plate S3 and spoke to the dealer yesterday. All covered and booked in for 4 new coil packs next week.

One thing they did say, was from past experience on these types of recalls, that the parts can go out of stock and then backorder very quickly. So, worthwhile calling up and getting yours booked in early or you may need to wait.

Hi guys.

Mine has just been booked into Esher Audi for the free coil pack change in a couple of weeks.

My only concern is that he asked if it had been "chipped". When I said that it had been remapped, he said "Ok, just to warn you, when we do this we run a full diagnostic system utility on there [presumably more than just VAGCOM] and this can occasionally cause the EML to come on.". I told him that it wasn't a problem (because I'd just go home and use VAGCOM to clear the error and turn it off anyway!), but why would he say this? What could they possibly do that would screw with the ECU? If they wipe my stage 1 map, I will go into a full blown rage!

Not all S3s are affected, as some have bolt down coil packs, and some dont, the ones that dont, will be the ones on the recall.

I also asked them when i called to book, that I have a couple that i brought as spares and if they would replace them, but they said no, only the ones that are on the car.

Is this right or is it worth arguing, as obviously if they are the faulty ones, surely they should be replaced for ones that are not??

yes! i have had to change a dodgy one last week and was prepared to buy a set for when the others go! 6 years and no probs, and now got it booked in for friday at parkland audi, gloucester!

thanks to the op and all the other comments, peace of mind for a few more years!

Got mine changed today, no fuss. I dropped it off this morning and picked it up tonight and they didn't even try to push any other work from the "free health check" must be too busy changing coil packs lol!

Rang Isaac Agnew Audi in Belfast today got mine booked for the 16th March for coil pack and free health check, they said they would need the car for the day so also got them to pay for a taxi to and from work :)

my 2001 amk s3 is booked in at Audi Newton Abbot on friday.

My only concern is that they can wipe my stage 1 map! has anybody had the coil packs changed on a mapped car yet?
Ill speak to them about it before it goes in. I dont have any knowledge of diagnostic software, if they do flash it with an update is it optional or is it the sort of thing that the computer does automatically when plugged into the car?

Seems it is specific window of vehicles which are affected, my 07 plate 3.2 seemingly isn't affected by the recall. :( No new free bits

whats the oldest audi thats had a coil pack recall done? thanks some1 fro this thread or sum1s mate etc lol
