Hi,

Was reading my B7 A4 manual today & came accross teh rear view mirrow compass.
Has anyone got this or know how I retro fit?

Many thanks,

Tim.

easy retro there was some on ebay last mth

If you already have the autodim its an easy retro fit...Pricey though

Blimey Rielly............ £360 on E-bay (Item number: 230346949524)

Think I've just changed my mind.

"ianh" on here has retrofitted it to his b6 cab (I think he said retrofit). He sent me pics over xmas as I was looking to buy an A4.

Id have it if the car was already spec'ed but would never retrofit it as id never ever ever use it. Cant really see why you would just invest in an RNS-E

As far as im aware, if you had the RNSE sat nav then the compass was not available as an option (i could be wrong) as there is a compass on the satnav.

So how much did the guy accept? Im tempted to get this myself!

I don't have RNSE - A tomtom does the trick when required & I have a concert II head unit in the front, with a 20GB Phatnoise cartridge mounted in the boot & bluetooth through the MFSW.

I bid 65.60 euros for the mirriw, so including packing got it for 80 euros = £69.25 (paypal).

Made a bit of a mistake, I should have bid lower to start - but never mind - mines DHL'ing it's way to me.

Tim.

Mirror compass arrived today and it look all of 10 minutes to remove the existing mirror, fit the new one and configure the compass.

Cool!

Pics!! I think I have this but it's built into OBC via RNSE?

The RNS-E can display a compass on the DIS when you don't have a route set - that's derived from the GPS signal.

The compass in the mirror is purely magnetic and has to be calibrated depending on where you live to compensate for the difference between magnetic North and true North.
