Audi Recall ( all petrol engines)

Hmm I changed 2 last week, I wonder if they'll change the other 2, dont fancy shelling out £70 if I can get away with it. I need to go anyway and speak to them about bubbling paint on the roof rails so I'll see what happens.

Anyone tried getting replacements today? i may call in on Wednesday and see :-D

I'll give them a call at lunchtime and see what happens....

Nice one Sandip, so they obviously knew all about it, what happened then, did they ask what you had already, or just said they will do a swap out, simple as that??

Many thanks, booked in on Friday :) LOL there's going to be a shortage of coilpacks in the country

The recall was issued on the 18/2/11, they had no idea about it Nilz. I didn't want to book it in to be honest but they have to carry out the work so they can sign it off as completed.

They did mention service history but i had my roof rails done last year so they couldn't turn me away really, even though i've not had an Audi stamp for 5yrs :)

I'll find out for definite on Friday, they said they'll only need it for an hour, scan the car, check the old packs, scan the car, drive away (i hope)

To clarify, Preston Audi seemed to be interested. Provinding them with a VIN number this after's.

Post up the results as/ when.

WIN!!!!

P.S Stupid question I know... Apologises. Would they change them if Audi didn't fit them?

Nice one, so looks like this is going to be a good one, will wait for a while from my call back from Audi, which as usual will never come!!

So will call them again later, not too keen on leaving the car with them to do the work, but if its got to be done, guess so hey.

Whats the difference between the new coils and the old then, does anyone know what they have done to resolve the issue, apart from just replacing the coils?

I asked my dealer this question, got told i had to book it in with them so they can check the packs on the car, scan it and replace them. If these coilpacks ever have an issue at a later date atleast if it's been carried out by Audi we'll have something to fall back on

I'm not sure what's different but i get the feeling perhaps we may now be ending up with the red ones lol

I've just given this information on to my mate who owns a A3.
He's going to give Audi a ring and see if his Diesel A3 is covered.

You think I should have explained to him that diesels dont have coil packs?

Just had a call back from Audi, they had it on the system and I have the car booked in, they said they dont know when they can do it in the day, but they will fit it in and give me a coutesy car for the day too :)

Hopefully I will get a good car for the day :)

courtesy car... for coil packs... A-Maze-ing!

Excellent info.

Just checked with Oxford Audi and both my B7 A4 2.0T Q and 8L S3 are on the recall list and are booked in on Friday and Monday for 4 new coils each!

Bargain.

While they "Check / have it in to see if the packs are legit / under warrenty"

Can any out of pocket expensies be incured? Don't want a heafty bill after they say they won't be changing them thats all.

Thanks,

Joe

Just phoned up Parklands Audi in Glos but there all busy with customers at the moment, although it sounds promising as the secretary acknowledged the recall and also a courtesy car will be offered if needed  Bring on the 1.6 8P :p

I'll try again in half hour, as i declined a call back because it just won't happen.:Flush:

Guys, just been on the phone to Wakefield Audi and my 05 3.2 8P is also covered by the recall and is booked in to be done on Wednesday!
Great news as I had a coil pack snap in half a couple of weeks ago so was expecting to have to fund another 5 soon!
Thanks to the OP for the heads up
