I've found two A3s that I really like however they are both some distance away from me so not really feasible to see both in one day (thats all I have spare this weekend).

Both are loaded quite well but have their own differences...

Which of these two appeals to you and why?

Car 1 - 140 S Line 2006 - DSG 3DR
39,000 miles, LAVA GREY. METALLIC WITH FULL BLACK LEATHER FULL AUDI SERVICE HISTORY ! AUDI FACTORY NAVIGATION PLUS ! BLUETOOTH PHONE PREP, S LINE MULTI FUNCTION STEERING WHEEL WITH PADDLE SHIFT ! PARK DISTANCE CONTROL, CENTRE ARM REST, HEATED SEATS

£12450

Car 2 - 140 S Line 2006 - QUATTRO 3DR
44,000 miles, Lava Grey With Half Black Leather and Alcantara S Line Sports Seats. DVD Base Navigation Plus With SD Card Slots, Heated Front Seats, Cruise Control, Multifunction Steerting Wheel, Front Centre Armrest, Electric Folding Door Mirrors, Xenon Plus Headlights, Interior Light Pack, Climate, Full Audi Service History.

£13999

Once again, any advice/opinions are much appreciated :)

Depends if you have no preference between dsg and manual. If it was me I would choose Car 2 but haggle on the price abit.

I have no real preference on the transmission to be honest. But Quattro does appeal to me. I'm just wondering whether the extras on Car 2 make it £1500 more than Car 1?

quattro adds a bit to the price on its own , tyr and get the price down a bit even £500 is better than nothing eh

Probably cause it's DSG :tapedshut:

you aren't wrong. it's personal preference really, but the DSG is more useful more of the time imho

but also because it's got full leather, is lower mileage, is cheaper and it's got PDC which is important in the 3dr A3 because the rear visibility isn't great. it's also got BT. all those are more important to me than xenons and electric folding door mirrors

Car one because its cheaper and less to go wrong .Less service costs etc .I would haggle the price down on either in anycase .Its a buyers market ;-).And one last thing, Buy what you want, Not what people tell youto buy ...

When you say less to go wrong, do you mean less electrics to go wrong or the quattro? Also does the quattro's cost more to service?

2nd one for me too.

Slightly more miles, but I'd go for the Quattrro, xenons and alcantara.
The xenons are a must for me personally but each to their own.

Doesn't blutooth come with the DVD nav anyway ?

Can be retrofitted anyway.

Nope it doesn't.

Can be retrofitted anyway.

Not cheaply! But that's academic if the OP doesn't think he'll use it. Which is why this thread is kinda pointless lol. We don't really know how he's gonna use the car or what he needs or doesn't need!

After watching Top Gear last week I would have it CSI checked and buy the one with the least pubes/poo/spit/wee/snots and ***** inside.

Good luck
Paul

I can see why this thread seems pointless, but as I'm new to A3s I dont really understand the value of these extras in terms of how good they are, their ££ value nor the added saleability they give the car when it comes to sell in a few years time.

All of your replies have been helpful, so this has been of a benefit to me :)

I'm gonna try and get the second car down to as close to £13k as poss, if he dont wanna meet me there then I'll have the first car for as close to £12k as poss - and then have £1k for my first mods :)

Tough call really as I like the full leather, but I think Quattro and Xenons would swing it for me. We have a DSG 170 TDi in the family, and as much I like driving it, I prefer my manual gearbox but that just my own opinion. People buy DSG for a number of reasons as they do when speccing Quattro.

Both are the best colour though!!! :icon_thumright:

quattros suffer on fuel economy compared to FWD. I'd sooner have 50 weeks of better fuel economy and cheaper servicing than 2 weeks of grip in the snow!

What about when its wet? Which is more than 2 weeks a year...

I respect its a personal choice but quattro is hardly a `snow option`

How much power/torque your putting down makes a difference too of course.

Another for the second one from me! Sounds great with xenons, quattro and manual, and just because its up for that much doesn't mean you have to pay that much! Haggle.

Quattro also works in the wet which we get to much of also I regulary get 500+ miles to a tank.

it's a TDI 140. he doesn't need quattro

I would say you are right, he doesnt need it as such.

I would say the advantages are just less tangable.
Still advantages none the less.

Personally I proabably wouldnt pay a huge premium for quattry on a 140 TD, more of a nice to have.
Having not driven a 140 TD Im happy to be corrected.

cheers
Paul

Car 2, although its close as I love DSG but loooovve quattro and it also has Xenons.

You could always keep looking if you are really unsure!

Come on mate if you don't know if you want DSG or manual.......then what chance do we stand ? Once you have made your mind up...either go for the DSG..or manual..its pretty simple. Jeeeeez.
