Coming home lights

I too want to know the answer to this...

you can retro them to the a4 b6 b7
but not that way
you need switch wireing etc etc

Feeling a little sad now..

Its a big job to do, need a new mirror, light switch and a good bit of wiring. Im also 95% that you need a new windscreen that will support the light sensor

Can something like this be done in the b6 A4 ?

Have a pdf guide off another forum for the A4/B6 retrofit - PM me your email and I will send it to you.
New Light Switch + additional Coming home on.off switch, New Rear View Mirror, maybe new Power Control Unit, change quite a bit of wiring - VAG-COM but no new windscreen!

Are you sure about that? I wasnt sure myself, thanks though, might approach that soon since the new light switch with the auto function is on its way to me :p

Oh and another thing, if you have the coming/leaving home function that you automatically gain the auto lights :)

I have *nearly* done this mod. Kept my eyes open on eBay etc for the right parts and accumulated them (at the right price) over the course of a year.

It's a fairly hefty job, but a mate and I managed it in a day and I'm a bit 'special' when it comes to electrical stuff.
You definitely don't need a new windscreen, the auto dimming mirror attaches to the standard windscreen mount (there is only one mount as far as I can tell - no auto wipers option on B6!) You MUST have a highline car (DIS with bulb out warnings etc) and your central electrics unit needs to be 8E0 907 279 F, letter E on the end will not work. I ******** up and got an interior mirror from a B5, which I'm told works, but I can't get it going. I want a B6 one with a button anyway - beware getting them from ebay. they's c£150 from a dealer and they regularly go for £200+ on ebay.de.

Since I have a light sensor, I've also got auto dimming wing mirrors which connect directly to the interior dimming mirror. (£80 delivered from ebay)
I used this guide. Reading the whole thread is advisable!

ooo.. lot of work... that mod in the a3 looks sooo simple...

On inspection the A3 modification listed above simply tells the "09-Electronics Module" that "Coming Home lights is switched on" - this is what the additional repair wire connected to ground is doing. Of course you have to code this module to tell it it has the "Coming Home function". What it does not do is use this function in the dark - it's day and night functionality as there seems to be no light sensor - as stated in the instructions no light sensor rear view mirror required.

This may work on an A4/B6 by adding a repair wire to ground to connection "T32b/24" on the "09-Electronics Module". What is not clear on the A4/B6 is if a light sensor is required for this full function to work. For reference the Photo Diode light sensor in the RVM is connected as follows: T32b/30 --|>|-- T32b/18. Note you will have to recode the "09-Electronic Module" for coming home lights and maybe the light sensor, etc. - info is on the Ross-Tech website.

I would try this out and test but I only have an "8E0 907 279 B" module and would require a "8E0 907 279 F" module.
If anybody has a spare compatible unit, send it to me and I will try it out.
Otherwise perhaps someone else could try it?

So if we were to do this we'd also need to dummy out(short) the diode so the module would think it would be dark all the time, I don't think that matters...
|Does it matter which module is used?

Got them on my 1.8 T Quattro Sline - as an optional extra - the extra button is next to the headlight adjuster and the main headlight switch has auto listed on the switch.

It will work I think, but without the light sensor, it will behave as if it is dark all the time.
