Was thinking about putting my car in the classified on here but does anyone ever look at them? every time ive had a look it full of really old adverts and is a bit confusing!

I dont find it a user friendly format.

I've said a few times before that the For Sale area should be a normal forum which integrates much nicer with the rest of the forum and is much easier to scan thru. I tend to find that i'll scan the classifieds on AudiSRS, LR4x4 and some of the other forums i visit most frequently every couple of days, whereas i simply never look here, which is a real shame, as this forum is quite probably busier than most of the others, yet has the least utilised For Sale area.

I agree its hard to follow and confusing

It is however what we have. We still will close any blatant for sale threads. Just thought i would say that before we end up being inundated with them. It is hopefully in hand. Watch this space!

Hey Kev.
The best thing you could do would be to stick it in the classifieds and then put a link in the sticky in the 8L section. I think most folk check that thread more often than the classifieds, but obviously it'll just be 8L owners!

Did you get my old suspension on ok?

Hey johnny, was down at the garage today, got the transferbox off and have found out its the gearbox thats knackered, dont have the funds for a new gearbox so im just gonna sell as a fixer upper but yeah the back suspension went on fine should get the fronts on tonight once i get the subframe etc back together, i put it in auto trader earlier, already had some rude phone calls offering peanuts then just hanging up because they say im asking to much!!
Hows the billys and h&rs doing?

I doubt you're asking too much Kev. The price you told me you'd put it up for sale for before Christmas should've been a steal for someone.

I went for a 'spirited' drive today and have to give 2 thumbs up to the Billys and H&Rs! More planted and level through corners and more comfortable too. The fronts have settled a bit and the car has a great stance aswell.
Very happy with them thanks!

Good luck with selling your S3.
There was a young guy who works part-time at Wallace Performance who said he might be in the market for an S3, I didn't catch his name though. He said he was building a 500bhp Focus RS and wanted an S3 as a daily... a fixer-upper could be just what he's after..?

I check it out ever now and then when i'm really bored in work.
I agree, it is a bit of a pain in the ***.

scrapping it and having a for sale section would be alot easier.

Byzan, i'm watching and waiting. lol

The classifieds section is AWFUL, I have designed a few websites and forums, but the coding for it is terrible. Just as an example, on the main page, the titles should get listed in bold and maybe not have part of the description visible. That small change would make it loads easier!

I don't see what's wrong with a normal forum layout, works well on majority of forums!

I've used it to buy suspension and look at it occasionally.
Not great format but it kinda does the job!

I checks the link in the stickies whenever theres something new in there. Sold a Forge TIP using the classifieds.

Its a terrible format, should just be another forum like on other sites. So much easier to use. With the size of this site, it could be a huge success.

I agree it is terrible but Admin want it for some unknown reason

Jojo: Whats it got to do with promoting itself as anything?

Its a facility for members to use, to trade items.

Plus, its a facility that is already there, using a paid-for modification no less, so thats hardly a valid excuse?

Believe me when I say I have tried in vain to convince the Admin that the Classifieds should be reverted to the original forum style format it was before, but it was nowhere near the top of their priorities of getting the forum to run how 'they' want it.

Even I know a good forum has a decent Classifieds section to make it tick, but the ASN members database is huge, so maybe they had to reduce the amount of traffic, as put quite simply, the forum keeps outgrowing it's new 'box'/provider everytime it's upgraded.

It's out of our hands I'm afraid.

Strange way of looking at things IMHO - if the forum is busy, then you grow/optimize the infrastructure with it to accommodate the traffic, not artificially restrict it to fit within a budget.

stick a 50p listing fee per thread and they can make money and prevent spammers.

IMO the mods need to get some backbone and put the point forward properly,

Every mod on here seems to agree that the current classifieds is hopeless, so why go along with it?

The mods hate it, the users hate it, so whys it still there?

Given that the mods are the ones on the front line, your the ones that are keeping the stupid thing going by pandering to the random pointless decision. If every single mod on this site stopped deleting for sale threads, the admin wouldnt be able to do a thing about it.

But then folk in this country like to roll over and take it up the hole dont they?

Lol, it just frustrates me, when they sit there and go "oh well we dont like it either, but thats what the boss says", and then immediately try to back up the decision they dont like with crappy, ill concieved reasons as to why its like that.

If you dont like it, and the boss wont listen to reason, then dont do it.

Its a STUPID classified section, the site is HUGE and we could easily have one of the best classifieds around for a car forum.

Edition38 is so big and succesful due to people signing up, sometimes just for the classifieds! Its what makes a forum in my eyes.

IMO the forum is about the community, and part of being a community is the trading that goes on within it.

Unfortunately "The Boss" doesnt seem to think its a community, and seems to want to run it his way, with no regard to what the people that make the forum what it is actually want from it.

The mods need to stop trying to make lame excuses, and instead do something about it.

This forum really is one of the best Audi forums i've used, especially UK based ones, and its a complete shame that the folk running it just dont put in the effort, and dont listen to the people on the front line about whats actually needed and wanted.

'Mods need some backbone'....laugh my ******* *** off
