Hi, I have bought a set of lowering springs. I bought just the back two. I'm just wondering how much should I be paying to get the back two springs fitted?
I have been quoted £100 but I think that is way too much?
Can anyone direct me to someone on this website that would fit them?
Thanks

100pound to fit 2 rear springs!!!! thats abit pricey,

if its just the springs it can be done with half hour at most.

where about are you?

Why would you just want to fit a pair of rear springs?

becuase with my 19" rs8's the front of the car sits perfectly how i like it, whereas the the rear is a bit high for my liking.

I see, you mean A8's right?, no such thing as an RS8. I think lowering just the rear end would look silly and maybe effect your balance of your car, but hey, it's your car, do as you please.

£100 to swop rears is a lot of money, as pointed out above, it's a 30 minute job/1hr max, if the person has the correct tools and know what they are doing.

No I definitely mean RS8 alloys.
Hopefully it will sit nicely when the rear is lowered
How much should i be paying roughly?

sadly abit far for me, im in ipswich. i would of done them for you

i definatly wouldnt be paying 100quid. thats well over the top

wow £100 to undo two bolts lean on the rear suspension pull the old springs and and put two news ones in seems very expensive, do you have access to a ramp at all?? if so i would just do it yourself, if you were anywhere near me you could've borrowed my car ramps and have it done in 20mins

Most garages will charge by the hour, so might be why.

The bigger question is the change in rebound rates front to rear, which would definitely give cause for concern if it were my car.

still £100 per hour is rather steep

Sutton BMW used to charge £90 per hour for servicing on my M5, that was in 2005. I sold the M5, not because of Sutton's rates, but because it was the most poorly made and unreliable car I'd ever owned.

Also, some garages will price themselves out of a job too, simply because they don't want the work or they're not quite sure what's involved. I'd always use spring compressors, and I'd normally check other things at the same time, so it might also be that said garage is being thorough?

Firstly if the garage knows anything about tuning etc they probably wouldn't just fit the rear springs anyway... doing so will ****** the handling and you will be swapping ends at the first hint of a corner...

If you want to control the stance of your car buy some cheap coil overs, it will potentially save your life...

Rear springs with access to a ramp should take around 30/45mins to do...

DO IT YOURSELF?

Some people can't: as an example, I have a ramp and the tools to do any job, but I work away during the week, and every weekend I have my son, so I simply don't have the time. In all honesty, I've had enough of spannering to last me a life time, other than an oil change or a 5-minute-fettle, I leave it for others now.

s3_stig - damn that's cheap!

Finesse - that's what I did to have my H&Rs and Billies fitted! Usual garage quoted £300, dodgy garage quoted £200+... Kwikfit man charged £170 cash-in-hand!
