Now all I know is they need to be hubcentric. What is the widest I can go safely and with no rubbing? I'm running standard 17" with 235/45 tyres on my avant sport.
Also I can't remember are they nuts or bolts on the Audi; will I need longer bolts?

i would go 15mm rear 10mm front and yes you will definately need longer bolts .
 
Ok thanks, think I will get some, would you recommend buying them from eBay? Or if not then where would be best?

Yeah as mentioned 15mm rear and 10mm front is a very popular option and depending on which make you go for they should come with longer bolts to suit.

ive just spoke to phil at PW Motorsport and he has advised not to go with the 15mm rear and 10mm front option ! saying i would get tramlining and bum steer !

at the moment im running 8JX19, ET35
 
I ordered mine from PW this morning and have gone for F15 and R15
 
Think so (older chap?) they should be with sat or monday

yeah thats the fella, he said he would sell me them but wouldnt advise it, he said this after i told them all the relivant sizes of the wheel

For what reason ?
does he mean 8" with a et35
if so i wouldnt put any up front and would only put a 5mm rear on an A4
But a lot of wheels run more than that as an offset
also the rear wheels of A4s sit in further than the front so having a slightly wider rear balances the wheels so all 4 sit in the arches the same
i would really like to know his reason
if he hasnt got one as in why this will be caused i will go up and ask him personally as im at a loss why this will effect anything
and from personal experience have never encountered any problems on any cars i have put hubcentric spacers on with any of the symptoms mentioned .

his reason was that if i have 15mm on the rear then the offset would be reduced to ET20 and that they would be sticking out a little too much.


Fair play to him though - he did say that he had probably talked himself out of a sale ! but at least he gave advise on what he thought was best for the customer rather than taking my money.

are you going to put any pic up once you have fitted them, i would be interested to see how they sit and how much further your wheels come out
 
Yeah can do, to begin with it will be with tbe audi 17's but i will soon be fitting 19's - i will do some before and afters from different angles and pop them on this thread no peobs mate

Thats fair
i had 5mm on a et35 8" wheel and they were just right on the rear
i have 10mm on my s4 alloys which are et45 8" and they would take another 5mm no problem on the rear .

so 5mm would be just right on the rear, what would you suggest for the front paul20v ?

Hi mate
i never ran a spacer on the front with ET35s
i found that as previously said the A4 and others have less offset on the rear so a spacer of more width rear than on the front keeps the wheels the same in the arches

Photos of ET35 8" wheels with a 5mm rear and nothing at the front
as you can see they sit in the arches pretty much the same which i like .
Excuse the dirty car it was last winter :)

As promised, I have only done the rears at the moment ("cuz its cold init!")

The extra 30mm is pretty obvious - i did think it would not be that noticeable but it is which is good! The wheels on the car at the moment are the Audi Sport jobbies with 235x45x17 tyres (ET45)

I am putting 19's on in the next week or so.

ADVICE NEEDED PLZ.....

Just bought a set of 18" S line alloys from an 07 A3. The tyres are 225/40 and was wondering what mm spacers anyone would suggest?

Would they need to be thicker than the 15mm rear and 10mm front suggested already in this thread due to them being from an A3?

Any info welcomed

A3 FROM 2003 > are 45-50 offset.
 
If the wheels you are buying are a 50 offset you will need 15mm spacer's for the rear's bringing it down to a 35 (perfect offset) the stick 10mm on the front's or even 15mm.

If they are a 45 offset run 10mm spacers front and back or 5mm on the front's.
 
My wheels are Et45 and have 15mm spacers.

I did Run Et30 on the rear for a short time with a 235 35 19 tyre plus 35mm springs although it does look the dogs it catches quite alot
The tyre does tuck up past the arch itself but rubs on the inner mud sheild

On the front Et30 the tyre sat out level with the arch so could have caused damage

My way round it was to machine 3mm of the front spacers and 2mm off the rears, so its now on 33 front and 32 rear that is the max I can get away with
Also on the fronts of you look at the in the arch at the top dead center there is a hex bolt, I had to remove this to achive more drop on the suspension.

In my mind I think you could run Et30 if your on Standard sport suspension and it would nt catch, although I do think every car has slighly different measurements when your working in mm

My pleasure mate, I wil be putting the fronts on this weekend so will get some more shots + side on shots and wil post them - all will be with the seventeens and standard sport suspension
 
Hi, been pointed this thread, have S4 alloys (are these et45?) on my car, and it's lowered. It would probably look better with spacers on, but don't want it to catch.

Being the family wagon as well it does get fully loaded for holidays, including roof box, so need to careful it doesn't rub on load...

Any recommendations (would the 10mm all round work)?

They're ET45 yes.

You want slightly thicker spacers at the rear really, either 5/10 or 10/15mm depending on how much you want them to fill the arches.
 
audi upgrades
The wheels don't need to be in line, as long the circumference are the same, the wheel track won't matter.
