thinking of getting a a4tdi 2.5, cambelt was changed at 60k now it has 135k is the belt due now or has it gone over?
I have read some say 60k and some say 80k which is true?

thanks in advance

Pretty sure its 80k or 5 years, whichever is soonest on these, although most folks say to do it at 60 regardless. If you do go for it, basically, the belt is due immediately. Just have to factor that into the sale price.

Xs2man is correct, Audi state 80k, but 60k is an accepted maximum. Mine 'went' at 128k as the work done in the change at 80k wasn't as I expected (pulleys were 'inspected' but not replaced) and it cost me many £000's.

Its well over at 135k, if you get it would I would drive it straight to the garage to have it done! Along with all ancillaries, water pump, thermo etc.

yup im in the same boat as quatrrojames. except mine still has problems. if you do buy this, then Cambelt change is a MUST. again along with waterpump, pulleys, the full whack.

if i were you i would be pricing up the work at audi specialists, and compare dealer prices. needs special equipment for timing it, some normal garages might not have. i have 123,000 miles on my clock and it was due to be changed at the next service. which the car didnt make it to due to the cambelt snapping. so there you go, my 2 pence worth! which is actually worth thousands lol

Yep get it and do it asap good motor just make sure the cams have no wear on them
You can see this if you look down the filler neck at the lobe and see if there's a ridge on it if so then expect to pay anything from 600 for pattern parts up to 1200 quid for genuine (that's for a complete cam kit)
Mine went at 159k and had worn cams and 9 bent valves proper headaches mate just be visualant:icon_thumright:

thanks all for advice but the seller is not willing to do belt so i am not bothering. thing is he is still driving it about so it may go at anytime. not my problem now though.
