Embarrassed about my other halfs car

This is kind of funny and embarrassing i think

my other half is nearly 42 and going through what i think is a mid life crisis lol
He is acting like 18 again and the best of it he thinks i'm Jealous why would i be .... read on to find out

He sold his Ford cougar and brought a 98 plate ford escort GTI
since then he as lowered it. new alloys, leather interior and stainless steel exhaust which i aint got a problem with but no he is going ott now

He does not stop buying for it he as spent over £1000 already..... What a waste on that car why not get a better car.....
so far he's added a 2ltr thottle body induction kit new lights a chip well 2 chips cause one did not work. Strut brace, silver cover for the engine, chrome number plate surround, new bonnet, New STI bumper that is only 1 - 2inchs max off the floor and scrapes the slightest slope and other bits too

the front bumper looks stupid cause he has not got side skirts to go with it or anything so it looks odd and to be honest looks tacky lol
It's rusting bad so not great body work...
My argument is why spend all that on a **** car thats slow as **** ?????? Most people i know just take the **** about it. Believe me it looks ****....

for the amount he spent and will spent, he could have bought an Audi.

Does he try and defend it?

I guess it is his money and its up to him but an escort GTI?

Don't think he wants a Audi but there is so many other cars out there why a GTI

i nearly ****** myself laughing when he phoned me up to say he had scrapped the bumper on a very small slope by where we live lol never laughed so much in ages. he had only had the bumper put on 4 days prior and thats him bein really carefully. Wait till he's had it a while and forgets. Were goin down Cornwall in it and i have visions off the car getting stuck ........................

It's a long time until i have mine (i hope, i'm only 21!) but from what i gather, a man can do whatever he wants during this time period. Usually resorting to a childlike state with a car is quite common apparently.

Leave him be, give him lots of sexytime, and i'm sure he'll grow out of it
 
Take photos of it and post them on BarryBoys, then tip him off about it. Once he has read the several pages of how crap his car looks he may well get rid of it:yes:

The guy obviously likes the idea of modifying, and let's face it, £1000 wouldn't get you far on an audi.

Lol reminds me of being 18, fitting a gti engine to my van, then fitting 2.0 cams, throttle body and ecu, really not a good idea as it just doesn't do anything, if anything it makes it worse.

If I were you, do him a favour and crash into it.

He's found a car which he obviously likes and enjoys 'improving' - just because it's not to our tastes that doesn't make it wrong!

I hope i'm a decent way off my midlife crisis too, but who knows! :O
 
Brilliant Maria! Escort GTI LMFAO!! okok, I must admit I actually liked the things back in the day, when they was new, but as time went by, even I knew they was ****!

But so long as he's happy, and your happy to let him continue... don't see the problem myself. But you have to LOL at the way you have cussed his car on a public forum! Hope he doesn't read this. :laugh:

Pictures have not got any at the mo and may be a little difficult to get them. I can't slate his car and then be interested and take pics lol

Nothing wrong with an Escort GTi, well apart from them being so limp out the box, but he seems to have got a little lost with what he's doing to it. Have some inspiration from one I've been building with my brother for his girlfriend and tell him to stop fannying about with Max Power crap and do the job properly

And the Focus ST170 engine conversion that's only the 2nd known. Inlet and air filter are only a temp fixture to get it running as there are roller barrel throttle bodies for it and an Omex ECU in the box under the bed to make it fly.

have you heard the saying growing old is compulsory but growing up is optional . good on him if he is happy whats the problem i have passed my mid life crisis but i have just bought some 18" rs6 alloys black powder coated . the wife tells me i should grow up BUT I DONT WANT TO SO I WONT
 
Look on the bright side- there is a possibility in around 20 years the car might treble in price and become a collector! chances are the world will have ended and the car will have rusted out!!! not only that, how good does your audi stand out over a piece of crap like that!!!
 
not exactly a classic to choose now if it was a cosworth then id understand a little but a GTI ??? what ever floats his boat I suppose lol

But to be honest if anything spoils the car it's the front bumper it's all wrong.
In my opinoin it looks cheaply done.............. and not practical for a everyday car differnet if it was a weekend thing

Shame cause it makes me giggle seein him trying avoid the roads with humps cause the front bumper scrapes them even goin at 2mph.......
 
didnt you feel a little bad when he said he was selling cause of you? ill admit it wouldnt be my choice of cars to mod, maybe a cossie... also the chrome plate surrounds and max power bumper sound tacky but if he was enjoying himself then isnt that a good thing... all be it a bit embarassing when seeing the neightbour putting out your rubbish :blush:
