I have had at least 10 sets of replica rims, and non have been bad. They are usually heavy, but that's not to say OEM versions wheels are lighter. Unless we are talking about BBS replicas, then there would obviously be a weight difference between genuine and reps, you pay an arm and a leg to own genuine BBS rims, you expect them to be mega strong and lighter for the privilege.
And with the buckling thing, hit any pothole hard enough, and wheels bend! Genuine or replica, there's nothing to say that reps are softer or easier to buckle.
All in my opinion of course, with over 150k miles of using replica wheels with budget tyres in the last 15 years or so.
