hi

can anyone help me, i want to respray my a3 and any information would be helpfull. how much should i pay? what should i look out for and is this a good idea? i want it in ibis white

Get it wrapped you fool. Respray gonna cost loads and at least with a wrap you can take it off. Look for about £1-1.5k in cost. Job done. Thread closed.

my advice is not to do it. white will go out of fashion VERY quickly and it's been done to death on the 8P

as tku has said if you must then wrap it. that way when you get bored of it/it falls out of fashion again you can always take the wrap off

Weyhey sub agrees with me! And my advice to you sub as much as I love you is to use capital letters after full stops.:p

You say that but I believe it was 2006 when Audi started introducing the White and ere we are 5 years later and now it's a standard colour like black/silver!

I would never buy a car thats had the colour switched in case its a clone/ringer.Sell it and buy a white car ,Probably cheaper in the long run .

Straying from the 8l section... I don't think it will be out of fashion for a good while! Do it, probably looking at about 2k, based on things I have had done in the past.

As said get it wrapped alot cheaper but i wouldnt go for ibis white. Just a standard colour now i'd go for something a bit more special :)

I had a all white Manta GTE coupe in 1987 :) white has been going strong since then !

I would never buy and Ibis white car let alone one resprayed. Very 1980's (like the Opel Manta post) I had one too a V Reg!!

Unfortunately N8 Silver is not a standard colour it costs you about £500 on a new car... Phantom Black likewise. The only standard colours used to be dull blue, Solid Red and '****** to Clean' Solid Black. White was a no cost colour and I suspect a few people went that way for that reason as they or their company didn't want to pay for Metallic.

I hope white is just a fad... OK on Police Cars, Ambulances and the occasional White Van!!:sadlike:

Spot on.

How can anyone predict colour trends?
If you can, then you and your crystal ball have a very highly paid job with any of the major motor manufacturers.
N8 knows stuff, despite the pink wheel thang....

i resprayed my lava gray a3 s-line to solar orange, i stripped the car down and rebuilt it and the body shop preped and painted it, made a fantastic job of it and cost £700 and i love my car search my threads for pics

Should have kept it mate, white manta GTE coupes in mint condition are fetching 6k+ on ebay!

I've been very lucky in the past and have actually had a ride in Jimmy McRaes (yes colins dad) Manta rally car, ****** awesome things and wanted a manta ever since!

Yeah and the irony is the police have switched to silver cars to help with keeping some sort of resale! :)

if it was going to be as popular as you're making out Audi would charge. it wouldn't be a standard FOC colour. they're not gonna lose a chance to profit on it are they? :tocktock:

white is a 80's colour yes but like everything it makes a come back and its now back in, ive always loved white cars my first and second cars were both white ,my opinion go for it either painted or wrap either is good but wrap is alot better if you change your mind just a thought

What has being popular got to do with whether its a cost option? White has always been FOC yet its popularity has increased in recent years. I see more and more white cars on the road year on year, are you saying its all in my imagination.?:tocktock:

no not at all, but other manufacturers are charging for white. case-in-point when the Merc E-Coupe was released Diamond White was a £1200 designo paint colour. you could get Calcite White FOC, but that was more of a cream colour

i recall at the time Top Gear magazine making a comment about this in one of their first drive articles that some manufacturers were charging for their boggo white and i did a cursory check and a few manufacturers were charging for their solid white paint colour. it was savvy marketing at the time, but recently it seems this practice has fallen out of favour.

anyhow, i think you do see less white cars now than you did a couple of years ago. at least i do anyway, i can't have seen one for at least a week and a half - apart from a T reg Fiesta, but the bumpers weren't colour coded so i don't think the white colour was a style choice lol.

i work in the car trade and i see white cars all the time in fact we have just sold a a3 ibis white sportback s-line with the open sky roof it looked quality and we also have a good few other white cars including a white a4 s-line and a white 3 series convertible

Cheers for the replys people. I'm still confused though. Should i get sprayed or not, kinda being swayed into gettting the car wrapped now but split between getting orange or white now

when you get a car wrapped, cn you tell? And if so does it look bad, what sort of price am i looking at for getting the car wrapped, i tink someone on here said £1000-£1500 but not sure if that was the price to respray or wrap or are they similar price?
