A3 Sportback - 2010 8P3 S3 Facelift

Sure is mate!

I have found a good picture guide of retrofitting the headlamps and thinking about trying it myself. 2 things worried me, 1 location of blocks/ pins & wiring across from fusebox where feed comes in if they have explained correctly across to the CE.

Is it hard to get the wiring across to the CE from fusebox entry? They didn't have any pics and I haven't a clue how it's feed from there to CE.

Cheers

The only wiring done directly to my CE was the LED's from the headlights. Everything else was done under the bonnet. You have to bear in mind that pre-facelift headlights are 10 pin and facelift ones are 14 pin. I was not confident in doing this myself so I outsourced it to someone more competent.

Hi,

I read that the adapter 10 to 14 pin adapter kufatec do as seen in this link click me! takes care of any adaptions that maybe required under the bonnet for the headlights to connect up. Then it's a case of getting those 2 wires from harness into interior through bulkhead and wiring them into the CE and swapping out the old to upgraded CE.

Maybe someone who done the work themselves, (cough Nige, cough Phil) can clarify this for us.

i also dont have to rewire as i had adaptive bixenons anyway the converter plugs work but why pay for that then youre only repinning and running seperate wires

So it's not a good idea to use the adapters then? Not quite sure what you meant there... Is there a better way to do it?

just its cheaper to replug thats all youre like a fiver for two plugs and wire, you know the price for kufatecs loom

Its not quite a fiver trust me as repair wires arent that cheap these days, the cheapest is the 009 & thats £2 a pop & headlights dont use these type either, but even if kufa was cheaper, I still wouldnt use there gear.

I think for you guys it's easier as you have a clue wtf your doing, lmafao! But for an absolute newb like me I think it's easier to just get the loom made up or from kufatec.

Is the F module a no no as I keep seeing these come up and haven't seen 1 K yet!

& how do you think we learnt then Rich :)

Sometimes with parts you have to bite the bullet, personally I had to eat the cannonball.

eat the cannonball LOLLLLLLL

i feel your pain nige should really start charging for all this info ;) f will not work without errors even though the lights will work, and like nige says youve gotta start somewhere it really isnt that bad, as for the wire nige, why dont you buy it in reels?

I do mate, I have reels, plenty of the buggers which is annoying for .5, .75, 1, 2, 3 mm etc for different loads & different colours, arrggh poxy wires lol, but the repair wires are still needed to attach to the reeled wire anyway chap for say running front to back, buying the pin ends & tools arent cheap either, the tool that is, pin ends is fun finding 1 supplier for them, but also attaching them can be a pita, but when got a chance will find a source for all, as would cut costs down & then also less soldering :)

i know what you mean ive been looking for a good set of pin release tools as my kit they work on everything but the audi, what brand are you using pal?

Little bit of tweaking needed here and there but looks pretty good so far...

Should have all tied up by next weekend... Mostly coding and wiring, slight adjustment needed to bonnet and finishing touches... S3 badge is coming off asap :Flush::undwech: lol

Cheers Joey :) Hope yours is sorted asap pal, will be great with the hybrid... my next move!

Steve it's the only way I could have kept my car another year tbh mate, I've had it 2 years already and never held onto the same car for more than 18 months and the itch needed scratching, it was a must for me! Whatever happened to that great profile pic btw :hubbahubba: :p lol.

tcardio, do you have a part number for those pieces mate, front splash/ arch covers are also required for anybody interested. I have the fronts and my S3 sills on order. As much as I hate to stick sills that say S3 on the car it looks like the only option! Will have to spray over the S3 me thinks..

looks great RS, post more pictures when its dun :)

Will get some more pics when it's all sorted and lowered as it's still on stilts :haha:

Well I'm still on stilts, but funds are drying up for this project so I'll have to wait a bit before phase 2 - lowering, maybe more power :eyebrows: is initiated, lol. Here's a couple pics for those that were interested-
