I'm going to need it doing soon so my question is where and how much?
First place that comes to my head is awesome gti, anyone had it done there?

Assuming you mean wheel alignment.I Pay £25. It's more for a 4 wheel one.
 
Yes wheel alignment, that's cheap, I was expecting more. It's prob not gonna be any more than 50 would you say? I just want a good one that's bang on. The one in my dads garage is ***** apparently so I dont want a naff job when it's such an important aspect when it comes to handling.

Also, do most garages return it to the factory set up, or do they alter it slightly for more grip etc?
 
Demon tweaks are ment to be good adjust camber and that think its about £70 though
 
I had mine done at awesome and it cost about £80ish IIRC. The car feels much better afterwards.
 
I have always had my cars done at demon tweeks, got a nice setup for alignment there now.

Think it was £55 when I had it done in September.
 
Where you from mate? I'm takin mine to Nigel langs in bolton on Friday morning. Said it will cost around 70 quid for a full geometry setup.

You pay them £25, they do a c**p job or no job at all, and then spend the next 15 minutes trying to sell you new:
  • tyres
  • brake pads
  • brake discs
  • cv boots
  • exhaust
In fact anything they can try and push.
 
Had mine done earlier at Christchurch Tyres. (no where near most of you I'd guess) But it only cost me £36. Car is even nicer to drive than it was! They use a big laser alignment machine. Very impressive equipment I must say!!!

I'm from southport in the north west. So awesome gti isn't a massive mission. But then having fitted bushes top mounts and ball joints, I don't want to drive it all scew wiff. I'm going to hunt more locally. But I'd trust somewhere like awesome to do a great job.

Jason that's a good link thanks, I think I'l note down those settings in post 15 for whoever does it. I hope it feels great afterwards :)
 
im in southport myself i use steves tyed and exhuasted by train staion the one way street
 
If you want the best try and find a centre that uses Hunter alignment equipment its the daddies !! costs a fortune to install and techies have to be properly trained up to use it.
Most decent 4 wheel alignment equipment is fed through a computer showing super acurate readings from the lasers.You do get non computer based laser alignment guages that arent as acurate so be wary of what you are getting for your money
Good alignment places will give you a before and after print out for peace of mind so you will know what was out and that its been corrected

you know anywhere in London or Southeast?
 
I had it done last summer by AH Autos in Guildford who service the S3 for me. No idea of the cost.
