A4 s Line Quattro Special Edition - 235/35/18 vs 225/40/18

I am considering changing the alloys on my 2006 A4 2.0 TFSi Quattro S Line Special Edition.
The current standard 18" 5-arm alloys have 235/40/18 tyres fitted.
The alloys I like (RS4 replicas) mostly seem to come with 225/40/18 tyres.
Would these fit? Would the change in tyre size affect handling?
Should I stick to original tyre size?

Are you sure on them sizes?
I thought the standard 18" size is 235\40\18?

Hi mate im looking to get rid of my RS4 reps in 18's and they r fully refurbished and boxed up if your interested. As for tyre size im sure its optional whether you want to go for 225 or 235. Some else can correct me if im wrong. As for 235 obviously as more rubber on tarmac

mubzy79 - Are your alloys the new style 7 x 2 spoke type or the older ?9 spoke design?
Any photos online or that you can post or send?

A4's come with 235's, stick with them. 225 is an A3 size typically, and sold on reps to keep the cost down.

Keep the 235's and your speedo will keep reading as the factory set it, plus having a quattro if you were running 225's and then fitted your 235 spare you'd wind the diff up ......

Oem tyre size is 235/40 x 18.

Thanks, Quattrojames. That is probably what i needed to hear. I would prefer to stick with original size but just wondered what difference it would make in practice. My spare is a space saver.

Am I right in thinking that either size tyre can be fitted to 18 x 8J alloy rims? If so, I could specify 235 width tyres instead of more common 225?

I'm running 225/40/18 winter tyres on the facotry 18's.

You can use either size.

I prefer the look of the 225 on the 8" Wide wheel.

will you go back to 235 tyre width for the summer?

Absolutely no difference what so ever to handling or economy, over all the sidewall is only 4mm smaller.

Won't be going back to a 235 unless i fit some wider 19's for summer use.

Reassuring to know I can fit either tyre, 225 or 235 safely enough.

Hi guys, first post on this forum (clearly should have joined last year!) and I was wondering if anyone could throw some advice at me...

I've got a 2006 A4 2.0T FSI Quattro S line Special Edition with f/a/s/h and 53k on the clock - and I blo0dy love it if I'm honest! The trouble is, yesterday I found myself sat at the side of the M40 yesterday, in sub-zero temperatures, with a very moany wife and a burnt out clutch for 2 hours - first trouble I've had with it since buying it 12 months ago from the previous owner.

I guess I'm wondering if this is the beginning of my hefty expenses? Is the turbo due to go? The AWD system? The gearbox? I'm not a car expert in any way, and was just hoping anyone out there could help me?

Either size will fit an 8J rim, just keep to the original size though is my advice.

Hi There all my name is Vik, i need some advice or recommendations for new tyres to go on my Audi A4 b7 57 plate (2008) Sline SE 2.0 TDI. After researching i realized there are rating for individual tyres, Ss i have found 3 tyres Good year efficient grip performance, Conti SP5 very highly rated on some forums and Dunlop sport maxxx RT's. All 3 of these tyres are rated A- GRIP, C-FUEL db vary from 68-72.

Guess good year is in between any ideas.
