Ticking from engine bay

Could anyone tell me what the black round part (small jug size) between the washer bottle and coolant bottle is? Their are 2 pipes coming out the top of it,1 going to the induction system,also a wiring block connector. A ticking noise is coming from the top of this part when the engine is warm,is this normal?

Its the Charcoal Canister and as far as I'm aware its perfectly normal. Mine does it too.

For emissions etc, i think it recirculates exhaust gases or something, wellys removed his with no probelms.

It recycles fuel vapour basically. Annoying waste of space IMO.

If removing, leave the ticky bit plugged in sadly, just hide it out of the way.

Make sure you vent the pipe correctly, or else fuel vapour will be floating around in the engine bay - this can have very bad consequences.

The Jap car specialists I went to for a rolling road last weekend were perplexed wher the ticking was coming from...
I didn't tell them because they looked like they were having so much fun checking my car over for faults (Det?) and subsequently giving it a clean bill of health!
