i have just purchased a FBMFSW and airbag seperatley as got them both for a very good price :), my car already has MFSW so i understand i just take off my old airbag and wheel and put new ones on(is that right) but need the airbag wiring harness between does anyone know part number or where can get on from thanks.

i thought the bag loom was the same as you have mfsw already

well hopefully it is i dont know, i havent taken the airbag off the wheel to have a look. can anyone confirm this?

The airbag wiring harness for the fbmfsw is different from that used on the mfsw.

The part number you require is :- 8J0 971 589 B it's about £35 only available from Audi dealers.

The wiring harness on your existing wheel is part number :- 8P0 971 589 Q (part now superseded by suffix P as there is now only one used for all round wheels) !

you can use your old wiring harness from your old mfsw.. with a few modifications...

remove the green and orange plugs which go into the airbag itself and the other wire and plug them into your flat bottom.. but you got to rember the horn wires are the opposite around if you can post up a picture of your flat bottom air bag (back) and i will edit it and i will edit this pictures and show you were you need to fit your wiring .. and so your horn would work and multi function pedals aswell if you have them as i did my own :yum:.. (this was a wiring i did for a audi a8)

Getting a little confused here.

I thought that the fbmfsw was a straight foward plug and play
as i have just purchased a wheel complete,?

If you have bought a fbmfsw complete with airbag then provided your car has already got a 2 stage airbag (as pictured) and provided the steering module is correct then it should be plug and play. If you are replacing a mfsw with a flat bottom one then you should have the correct module already.
