RS3 Discussion Thread

:no:Calm down lads. This is about the daddy RS not your ego's.

Placed my order last night. Tried to keep it fairly simple (almost identical to my S3) - I've no need for alot of the options that they offer and IMHO I think some of them are a rip off:

Suzuka Grey
Black Styling Pack
Bose
Privacy Glass
Electric Folding Mirrors
NSP

Still to find out if I can afford it, but it's risk free - no deposit and no commitment.

Yes - how did you manage an order without deposit. Two dealers i spoke to said they require 10% (£3K!)

I thought the car was £39,999 so expected the deposit if 10% to be £4k. Not that it actually makes a difference to me with £40k id prob go for something else even thought i personally think it will be an awesome car and hopefully blow the socks off the BM :racer:

Hi,
Just ordered my RS3 red with black exterior trim etc and from reading the post on hear i am confused? how many are going to be built was not aware that they were to be built in limited numbers, have had confirmation that they have started to build it and that it will be ready for the launch date ,which in reality is no good for me as i will be in no postion to pick it up but they are going to hold it for me.
CD

hmmm. Not sure where you got the 10% from or is it just a sort of normal thing? I've paid £500 to Perth Audi and they've ordered me a car, we are waiting on getting a confirmation from Audi so nothing's in stone. Theoretically if you're in good enough books with your Audi dealership there's no requirement for a deposit but if I were a dealer I would almost certainly insist on an "in good faith" deposit as I could be ordering a car that wont get sold. In the case of the RS3 though I wouldn't imagine it would be a huge risk. The good news is that some dealers will be getting demo cars in April(ish) so I'll hopefully be able to drive one in advance of taking delivery of it.

The BMW :) will unquestionably be a better drivers car but I don't believe that's the whole story, it can't move around when the weather is bad, it's a BMW and it's so ugly that it's likely to cause serious psycological trauma ;) it will also most likely be quite thirsty in comparison.

I did notice a new S3 at the dealers when I was there yesterday with the 19" wheels, in white with black optics and privacy glass. I have to say it looked rather lovely. I'm going to add privacy glass :).

One last thing, the sales guy suggested that bucket seats might be a must have on one of these, it made no odds to me as I was already comfortable with having to order them but he seemed to think the RS cars are better with the bucket seats than without. Worth considering but again I suspect these cars will retain their value better than normal cars (so slightly better than awful :D)

Congrats :D they have said a limited run of 500 RHD cars but it probably means nothing :). I've had no other confirmation although I'm in the same position as you as I don't really want it till a fair bit later :)

Still excited though!

Some 'non-studio' pics for you guys ordering/considering an order, originally posted by Wolfbane on VAGOC here:

They should have colour coded the lower grills on the non black ed. I know it would look sooooopa bling with all the silver mesh but I can't help thinking it looks odd like that!

I'm pretty friendly with the local dealer, so maybe that helped. Plus, I've made it clear that if the repayments are too high, I won't be buying the car. The dealer is comfortable with that, and will have no problems selling the car on.

Note, changed the colour to Phantom Black. Heard stories that, depending on the light, Suzuka Grey either looks amazing or awful.

Suzuka Grey looks awesome in what ever light its in

Sepang ftw on the RS if they have it

Does anyone have any thoughts on what the 3 year residuals might be on these? 60%???

Got to be around that figure, but depends on how many are built and how good it is really... Most RS models hold their value well.

Got to say though, those pictures above of the RS3 make it look very "similar" to the S3 and S-Line Black edition models. Considering it's cost, I would expected different style wheels to set it apart....

Dealer has confirmed my £500 deposit refund is on its way to me.

Oh well, I've only waited nearly 6 years for the car to come out and then not order one.

What made you not want it? Sure you've said earlier just being too lazy to look

Main things are:
1. It's a sportback only.
2. It's S-Tronic only.
3. It's too expensive (plenty of other more tempting things out there for £45k).
4. My 8L S3 still has plenty of life in it.

Will probably be tempted by a second hand one in a few years time )

There is a small review on the topgear website, but they were only allowed a 20 min drive on an icy road

Apologises in advance if this has already been posted but I haven't been reading this read as it's way beyond my reach. I've just seen the interior:

Audi-RS3-Sportback-37.jpg

Do interiors get any better than that?

That does look the biz, but it would be 5k on top of the list price (2k for buckets and 3k for quilted diamond design). I'm not sure if its worth that.

I do agree with you but if I was lucky enough to have the money I would go all out and have it all, if you got £40k to spend on a car I'm sure you can find another £5k

You know what I mean, £40k is a lot of money, if you have that sort of money in the first place you've done ok for yourself and I'm sure the extra £5k wont hurt too much?

Just playing ibis..I know what you mean.:p

Looks pretty sweet in that vid tbf, styling wise it has definitely grown on me... I believe I'm a convert :arco: lol, still not happy about the price though... A3 really need 19's to look the biz and I think this video and the fact audi have gone 19's on this prove it!

edit> no buckets on the one in that vid, although it does have the pan roof  couldn't find this when speccing one on the configuration

why do they comapre it to the golf R "Then there’s the AWD 268bhp Volkswagen Golf R (essentially the same as the RS3, minus a cylinder" more like the golf R is the same as a S3??

because that would make you remember or search for their S3 bad review as opposed to Golf R brilliant review? :)

If i had a spare £40k i would be having one .its a grower like marmite ! love the interior ,but i would tinker as we all would .prefere sportback to three door in anycase .lotto win needed! ;-)

mate saw this up london, you gotta admit it is lovely! well i think so anyway... great styling...
