Leaking turbo pipe

I noticed some smoke coming out from under my bonnet today.
I opened it up and noticed it was coming from a leaking pipe on top of the turbo.

This is a older pic of the leaking pipe.
Its leaking between the nut and the pipe.
I'm tempted to just take a spanner to it but wondering if there is a washer or seal that could do with replacing.

Any one got any hints or tips for doing this?

A4 1.9 110 TDI 1998 AFN engine.

It's the oil feed pipe for the turbo, someones probally had it off before and not tightened it properly.

yeh its just a compression fitting, try and tweak it up.

I think you need to replace the line to that actuator as well!

I ordered a new union bolt thingy, that they said fits between the pipe and the turbo. I'll collect it next week if tightening it up does not work.

Yeah, thats been on my list of things to do. That and another pipe or two.
Will any rubber pipe do?

That nut is not moving.
I tried tighten and nothing.
I cleaned all the oil off to make sure that is where its coming from and it comes out of there rather fast.
I'll have to wait till the part turns up next week before I sort this out.
its leaking from top of the nut. I hope its the union and not the pipe it self.

Fixed the oil feed pipe leak today.

It was the pipe at fault, the sealing ring at the end of the pipe was coming away from the pipe, letting oil through. I replaced the hole lot, all bolts, seals and pipe.

Delivery.
I got the union from VW and the pipe from Audi. lol
3 times i went to a VAG garage and I never picked up any new pipe work for the thingy on top the turbo.

do you not find it is coming from the bottom of the turbo also? i have tightened my bolt up a bit and it stopped from the top but is still coming from the bottom.

Not seen any thing from the bottom pipe, only from the top.

Any good VAG dealer should beable to tell you.

I think first you tight the pipe as you can do it and after that it still leaking so you can use the rubber pieces and tight it surrounds the pipe, and as I can think the problem will be solved.

The bottom pipe may be the same but you wouldn't notice as the oil isn't burning off the turbo as it drips on. I use braided oil lines on my mk2 golf, partly because its not standard and partly because they are shiney and look nice. A good hydraulic pipe shop (one in most industrial areas of the town) will make you one up for little money.
