XS Power K04 Manifold for 210/225 S3

He told me also that the new batch will indeed have a better casting with more nickel
It'll be a winner if the casting is improved, proven gains with good fitment. Lots of choice for the future by the looks of it. I can see a K04 manifold bench test in the not too distant future similar to the intake manifolds. Should make for some interesting reading.

Yup I agree, and i hope that since I'll be running close to normal egt's and that the mani's coated that it won't crack, if it does I'll have to replace it with the new batch.

Anyway I'll probably have a couple logs and back to back dyno (if I can) to see the gains with my current setup

Bill have you never had a go at a ko4 manifold?

no.. I keep picking it up to look at but not spent enough time (I dont have currently) to look.
If/When JBS's comes out, and 034's comes out in suitable material, and both are proven to show gains and be reliable then there would be little point.

034's does give gains, very nice ones, as demonstrated by wellys and my dyno logs etc etc... Its issue was not performance, but quality.

If you saw these XS Power manifolds in the flesh, you would appreciate just how much work had actually gone into making them.

Honestly, the welding of the thing must have taken hour on end.

This is why the TSR tubular manifold is so expensive to buy off the shelf, it simply takes an age to make.

Any reason your going for a k04 high flow mani and eliminator over a more proven standard gt2871 and a regular mani to suit. Wouldn't it work out cheaper.

Yay, another SCNer...
Hey Welly, just admiring your work on this forum and great to see that your in talks with XS Power who in the past i haven't given much consideration too, but fair play they appear to have a good attitude and comitment about them.
I rang JBS today asking about availability of their k04 mani which i was told they are hoping for february so another mani will be thrown into the mix.
I'm so looking forward to your logs on this XS manifold. It will be interesting if it has the slightly laggy effect you mentioned with the 034 mani, but with the gains achieved i guess you can't have the penny and the bun.
I'm tempted to try the JBS mani just in the name of R&D but its a bit tasty if it stays at £450, The XS mani has the better collector design in my opinion and its cost is on the money too.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say...

I am hoping for a good result with this, and that it proves to be a reliable config.

Only time, money, pain, and time off work will tell though...

nissan 200sx i dynod on sunday was running an ebay, xs-power style of shiney mani... cheap.. and been running on the car for >year
did'nt glow much when loaded, flowed well enough for 292bhp from 1bar boost

I already have the eliminator fitted in. Was cheaper than a full kit (even with eurodyne maestro7) and I could keep the stealth look and 3" eurojet downpipe I had on the TT (no Seat on this side of the pond)

And it was a test to see if the 225 version of the eliminator was as crappy as the regular ones (like most people tell) and I should say that I'm really impressed with the results yet ande dying to see what the manifold will bring in term of impovement. I think I'll be able to see pretty much the same numbers as a full frame kit, think I'll have to upgrade my FMIC as well lol.

Yay, another SCNer...

been a long time here as a guest only learning, this is where I learned about the existence of a k04-02x high flow manifold too

Aye, they'll be driving Audi's next... quattro FTW! ;P

<tuffty/>
Haha, the only way i'll be driving an Audi is if i get a charity handout off one of you rich 4 ringed fella's. You know us Seat drivers are tight ***** who like to reassure our selves that even if we could afford it we wouldn't drive an Audi based on dodgy dyno 4 wheel drive losses, even if it did mean we could drive around a corner with four wheels in contact with the road.;)
I do have some Audi experience though, my sister used drive a very nice blue 180TT and out of shames sake i used to clean it reguarly for her, fab car, i'd even have put up with the hair dresser jibes if i could only fit in it.

And I have another 'using an XS Power manifold' story to tell...

Sold the steering rack I got with the subframe on ebay yesterday, and the buyer turned out to be mikem1 off the Ukmkiv's forum. He's also on here I believe, and is friends with IbanezDan51 off of SCN. Small world.

Anyway, got on the blower to him last night and we had a good old chinwag about this and that.

Turns out that he is currently running one of these manifolds as we speak. No reported issues thus far, and it's been for a trip to the ring, which is encouraging.

I am going to try and get him to get some photos up.

Yeah am just trying to dig out the pictures for you Welly, finally back home after collecting the 4Mo steering rack. To fill people in I've had my XS manifold on since September 2010, my car is a Mk4 Golf 4Motion with a BAM 225 lump in it. I have the XS manifold, downpipe and high flow cat. Fitting issues as mentioned by Welly are the same as mine, I used Mk4 Golf Turbo head studs to attach the manifold to the turbo and this seems to solve the issue using Original parts. My current issue is how close the downpipe comes to the power steering rack. Not sure if this is due to the fitment to a Golf instead of the normal S3 / TT cars?

Mike

Great stuff dude!!
Sorry to blow the dust off this old thread lol... but....

what was the out come of your findings.
there are a few on ebay but im not to sure if they are any good

bump im interested to know how you did up that difficult turbo bolt as i managed to do it all in situ apart from that last bolt just been hacking tools today.

the nut thats hidden under the manifold?
i used a 17mm spanner thats bent at 22 degress or so.
