Selling your A3 1.8T Quattro Sport? FYI

Hi mateys,
Just sold my A3 1.8TQS last night: genuinely sad to see her go! If you're looking to sell yours, I'm based up into Lancashire, and sold mine with the following spec for £1875:

V-reg 2000-plate
Black
6-CD Changer
Reverse Parking Sensors
Totally standard with K03 Turbo
Two previous owners (both ladies)
Full Service History (Audi up until 2004, then independent from 2004-2011 with stamps and receipts to prove)
All Previous MOTs
Road Tax March 2011
MOT January 2012
Bodywork in decent condition.
DIS faulty, but still readable.

I'd say I lost about £200 on it's real price due to the recession/post-Christmas period, but overall not too bad really.

Anyways, hope it helps you price yours in the future.

no, they don't go for that price anymore Dave!

a 1.6/1.8 A3 isn't really worth more than a grand these days. high mileage pre facelift 1.8T's start around £1200, and £1500 will buy you a fairly decent pre face 1.8T on say 120-130k.

Even facelift AUM cars are going for around £2k now for the more rough ones, and £3k for a late mint low mileage one!

the value has really dropped out of them now seemingly more so in the last 6 months

Increase in fuel prices are hitting performance hatchbacks hard on the selling front! Unless your a car enthusiast, people have lost interest in high performance and want a bit of economy to go with their next purchase. I'm certainly looking at diesels more often than not these days...

edit: just popped on autotrader quickly and there are loads of 1.8T's for £2500 ish which makes me feel a bit better because i only paid 2600 early last year

hi mateys,
re. the price, i think it's deffo a case now of people putting up cars for prices that just aren't going to sell at anymore. the autotrader valuation i had done on my ex -() was it should've expected to bring in £2,500-£2,800. I know myself that just isn't to be expected anymore, because S3's are coming in at about a £1,000 more.

as for the car costing more to run, my insurance quotes on my a3 and something truly horrible like a vectra hatch diesel (group 7) come in around the same. petrol coming in at 127.9 is bound to have an effect too.

i think my future will not lie with a performance estate of some kind.. need it for business and as much as i'd love to go for the s3, i think my head will rule my heart this time!

just to add another recent price.

I paid £1050 for mine with 12mth mot and 4mth tax (so most of the value was in the mot and tax really!). 1999 prefacelift with 1.8T, sport spec, factory fitted bodykit, bose upgrade with 144,000 and bit rough around the edges.

I think you got a very fair price for it tbh, especially this time of year.

having said that quattro normally adds £500 to the value.

the young man who came down to buy (well technically up, he came from nottinghamshire) didn't even know it was quattro when he came to buy it. looking at the receipts i had for the car as i was selling her, i'm quite sure i had priced her a little too low but she had to go :-( oh well, onwards and upwards

Well thats just ****** me right off.... not that i'm looking to sell at the mo though... did it not have normal Quattro refinements ??? Aircon , cruise control, leather etc ??

don't be down too on yourself/your car mate: could just be a poor time to sell any car. it had climate control and rear parking sensors. no leather and no cruise. as an aside, i could've had the cruise installed (genuine OEM parts) for £175.00 all in. didn't think i would get the money back, i'm glad i didn't now
