black gloss grille

had my 8P3 SB grille painted black gloss today, whilst the car was in for a rear bumper scrap. to anyone thinking of having it done, defo have it done it :yum:
my SB is phantom black, so with the gloss black grille surround and grille bars it looks spot on!!! much better than buying the black edition grille (£267!) imho. will put some pics up tomorrow if anyone interested..
 
yep it looks the dogs danglies!! yep will get some pics up tomorrow. thinking of having the roof rails put in matt black now.
 
yep, all black car, bar the rings i think will look good

yep will look good mate are your rear windows factory tinted too mate , i had mine done the end of last year it looks so much better now
 
yep factory tints, so very dark. nearly had the front rings put in matt black but thought otherwise for when i sell the car on. dont think it will be going soon though, 2nd 8P3 i'v had, ibis now phantom.
 
had mine done aswell. looks good only had the chrome done in gloss black and the cross bars left as they were very pleased.

yeah i think that would be too much of one colour im putting my rings back to chrome soon
 
denzil: if you not mind me asking how much you pay. cost me £65.00 for all the grille painted.
 
Can't wait to see pics mate just ordered a black grill, once its on im gunna get surround, front and back badges and mirrors storm grey. Something bit different. Any more plans now pal?? ;)
 
yep, would like to get the roof rails put in matt black, plus debaiting lamin X the headlights (someone on here has a black S3 which has goven me some inspiration). Then maybe lower the car a bit, as it on s-line suspension now, so wondering what others have dropped thier s-lines by?
will put pic up of grille shortly.

£60 mate. so about the same! looks good as I said I have a sliver A3 and the black grille goes well. only had the out side chrome done to see what it will look like. thinking of haveing the cross bar done in matt back.

Looks great. Only thing that would concern me is stone chips which would then show the silver through again.

I know a few people on the r32 club had their grills sprayed and after a few months they looked terrible.

Looks good, if you didn't mention the fact it has been sprayed, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference
 
looks better than the black edition grille, as the bars a gloss also (will post better pics). but thanks :thumbsup:
 
Does look good mate, and seen as it works out so much cheaper than the optics grill everyone will start doing it! ha
 
hopefully it wont chip, as its been oven painted, etch primer, undercoat and top coated, so take the normal wear. but yes £65 its cheaper and imho looks better than the £267 optics grille.... you can save yourself £200.00 :faint: quids in!!
 
if it does chip you caould get your grill painted 3 or 4 times for the price of one optics grill look at it that way

Yes, Don't use the "IMG THUMB" button, use the "IMG" button instead.

so the difference in this and the optics is that this your bars and plate holder are black too?

and if its a particularly bad chip thats dented/deformed the grille surround, then just buy a new silver one, they;re cheap as chips on the bay from ppl buying black ones!

yep the whole grill surround, bars and plate holder are painted gloss black. the grill was taken apart, so each piece painted individually
 
Has anyone changed the grill on an audi a3 8P? Just the grill not the grill surround, I think my grill (55 plate) is a kind of dark grey but would like a full black.

Search mate, hundreds on here have changed the grille. You might even find a link at the bottom of my post
 
Thanks for the reply A3Kent, Ive tried searching but probably just being a noob lol I've realised everyone changes the grill too, but wanted to see a pic of the standard metal grill surround with black grill. I'll have a look at your link and try searching more. Thanks
 
this is my a3 s line with matt black grill and surround with red rings i frequently change the rings as i own red and black rings IMG 0343
