Hi all, new to this forum. Ive owned several Audis in the last few years including an 80cab, B6 tdi saloon, B6 1.8t sport Cab. Driving an old w plate Seat toledo tdi at the moment which has done 125k and still goes like a train but its just getting a bit old now so looking for something a bit nicer to drive now. Due to the stupid price of fuel im doing a bit of research before i buy. I never seem to get the sort of mpg i see in Whatcar or parkers guides so looking for a real perspective on things. I do drive my cars quite hard so not expecting anything great but just wouldnt consider any of the petrol models now.

Ive got my mind set on the 3.0 tdi s-line quattro Cab.

Can anyone give me an idea of the sort of mpg i can expect from the 3.0tdi???

Any advise appreciated.

Try looking at the two recent and previous "should i buy a 3.0 TDI posts"!!!

And the answer to your question is yes you should!

Anywhere between 35-55mpg! depending how you drive.

I've heard very good things about this engine - especially if you remap it you can expect huge gains! Still with a good MPG

Don't buy it if fuel consumption is an issue, it's been said dozens of times in previous threads. If you drive hard, you'll be lucky to get above 30mpg. Normal driving on a good day 35 - 40mpg. No matter what anyone tells you, you'll never really see more than that.

Other than that, definitely buy one, I couldn't recommend the engine highly enough (till it goes wrong £££££)

What sort of problems have you experienced with yours?? I'm a mechanic so most jobs are no problem. It's the price of the parts that scare me!

I've only had mine three months, but haven't heard of any particular faults to which the 3.0TDi engine is prone.

Ill be honest. On the whole Audi' engines are very good and ive never had any problems with any of my previous. Modern diesel engines however when the do go wrong, normally turbo or fuel delivery side can be very expensive for parts. Im considering taking out a parts and labour warranty, RAC an AA and a few other companies do good warranties for not alot of money. Only thing is the car has to be serviced, with receipts from a VAT registered garage. I normally do all my own servicing but wouldn't be too hard to put it in to my mates garage once a year for a service. Gives you that piece of mind. Like all mechanics i dont like spending money fixing my own car. Prefer getting paid for fixing everyone elses. :)

Ive made up my mind now though. Going to find a 3.0tdi. Hopefully doplhin Grey or Black. Though i said id never buy another black car ever again.

I've had no problems at all with mine, it was just a statement. As one of the other guys comments, it will be expensive if does go wrong. I don't think labour is the major issue with the cost either. Parts are very pricey. Hopefully that won't be an issue for you though.
Good luck.

Thanks. I will keep you all up-dated and post pics when i get the car. Really looking forward to having a nice car again. And though i live in scotland i do love my cabs. I think this will be my 9th convertible. Including my 3rd Audi.
