Springs / coilovers - comfort?

I'm pretty convinced that my 2.0T quattro S-Line rides a little higher than FWD S-Lines. I say this because it looks about the same as a Sport (+10mm) that is on my street and because all the aftermarket spring options list the quattro models separately (assume different spring rates)?

I was just wondering if I could drop it a little, maybe 10-20mm, without compromising on the ride quality much. My wife hated my old Clio 197 on H&R springs and I've got a baby now too!

well the weitec and Kw v3 coilovers are meant to be some of the most comfortable, few guys on here running them but they arnt cheap lol but then buy cheap coilovers and they aint gonna be comfortable

then on the other side of things there is the spring route, plenty on here running eibach and H&R springs, i have the H&R 50mm myself, the ride is a little improvement over the standard s-line which can be quite bumpy and they are pretty much bang on height wise if you don't want to go low, just enough to end the arch gap. Heres mine:

£700... being a bit optimistic arnt you mate, they are £600 for the kit, then allow 2-3 hours fitting @ say £50ph if your lucky, (depending on the age of the car, new top mounts say another £60) and the 4 wheel alignment £50-70

at best your looking at £800 worst £900

kit was under £600 when i checked on DPM last - but that was for the FWD version, not quattro which could be more expensive. in any event i sourced mine nearly new of smudge_don for a fair bit less than that. i paid £200 to get mine fitted, which included a proper 4 wheel alignment, but i reckon i overpaid.

Coilovers are very very comfortable, KW are the best of the best, but Weitec offer very good value for money.

That's where I checked my price, and it was a fiver under £600 with the VAT increase may have made the difference form when you checked. £200 fitting with alignment sounds about right, so that's £800...

As mentioned the more comfortable coilovers kits are the Weitec and KW, also think about the Vogtland which are a very good option.

i paid £200 to get mine fitted, which included a proper 4 wheel alignment, but i reckon i overpaid.

fair enough sub, but 3 hours to pull the suspension apart, put it all back together, take it for a test to make sure all is nice and tight i dont think is excessive (which would allow £50 ah hour labour, ok i know i live in london, but still dont think thats a lot considering)... should have heard some of the quotes i got when i called a few places just about fitting springs, some places were talking about 4-5 hours (reputable places as well) and then alignment
if anyone has got places where that have charged much less then £200 id like to know as any further work i have done to my car, id want to use them as i hate paying people to do work on my car so always willing to find a deal

annoyingly someone went to the same place as me to have coilies fitted and paid £125!

Midland VW in Cannock. at that price it'd be worth the drive to the Midlands lol

ah fair play, can see why your a bit ****** lol thats dirt cheep for fitting & alignment... wish i had a place local that charged £25ph for labour!!
midlands is a tad far to drive, would have to work out pro/cons of petrol for viability when i upgrade to coilovers, midlands is a bit far for just a trip for fitting, but will see if i can link it in with another trip to see some friends when i upgrade later this year

Many run FKs, and KW. KW are by far superior, that will reflected within the price.
