Software Recall - Wipes REVO Software...?

I've just been told by Audi that at my service thats due, they will also be required to carry out Recall 9778 (or 9718) Software Update to the onboard supply control unit...

Does anybody have the faintest idea what this is? And is it likely to wipe the REVO software from my ECU?

No idea,but it will wipe your software and reinstall the latest revision from Audi over it.

This is perfectly normal procedure.

The onboard supply control unit is above your accelerator pedal, it's sometimes referred to as your central electronics unit. It's full of relays and is the power distribution centre and CANBUS controller for the car. Your REVO map is in the engine ECU so you should be OK. That said REVO will put your map back on if it ever gets wiped by a dealer update.

When i had my car mapped i was told that Audi are a fag paper away from making the map tamper proof which will stop this mapping anyway. Cant blame them really.

Like John said, its only an ecu flash that affects the Revo map. When I had the window module software update carried out to remedy common 'leccy window gremlins' the Revo software was completely unaffected.

The Evo Xs arent possible to map without being visible to the dealer. Not quite sure how, but I asked the guys on MLR forum and many still do it , and Just do without the warranty from new! I defo wont be doing it if that is the case.

Most new cars are "tamperproof" upon release, but its only so long before someone cracks the security and opens it up for mapping.

I suspect that even if the map was visible, the dealer couldnt legally refuse a warranty claim unless the map was a likely cause.

IE, if your roof started rusting, or the electric windows broke, they couldnt use the Engine Remap as an excuse not to fix it. If however your turbo failed, or the clutch exploded, then they could, and rightly so.

Strange, I had a fault on my central electrics unit some time ago and they swapped it out.... Any way of checking if i got the update then?

Cheers guys. I drove it back form the dealer today, and I just can't tell if it's been affected of not! weird I know.

Decked - I'd just give them a call and see what they say the'll soon know if it's due for your car I would have thought. My car is Jan 10 so I don't know how the date means anything, but it was a recall apparently, but they couldn't tell me what it was going to do.

VCDS will give you the current ECU flash installed.
