whats the best weay to do this?

Use a coupler to extend it a little - if so, what size diameter coupler will do?

or just attach it straight to the MAF? if just straight to MAF - will the filter jand i just slide over the MAF and i can jubilee clip them together?

use a coupler and put it closer to where the standard air feed is. if u have an s3 it is 80mm to 80mm on an A3 its 80mm to 70mmi believe

depends on which filter you've got mate.

I got the 80mm filter, wanting to future proof myself if I upgrade to a 3'' MAF with a hybrid turbo.

So I'm using the biggest jetex filter with the 80mm neck, then an 80mm alloy coupler, then an 80-70 reducer from Bill which takes it close to the wing.

i have that same setup

it's an s3 i have guys, and the filter is 80mm i believe (its the one that bill supplies) so this means i won't be able to just slide it on if the maf is also 80mm :(

the MAF is 80mm and so is ur filter. it will fit but will be in the hottest part of ur engine pretty much lol

mine is a s3 with the 80 mm filter fitted straight onto the maf with just the jubilee clip its a perfect fit

do you guys not find the filter vibrates a lot with the movement of the engine/car?
I have heard strong vibrations can defect the MAF? is this true?

if you look at mine Liam, the filter is actually tight up against the original airbox mounting tab on the inner wing.

It kind of sits under the top of the tab, which stops it rising, and I expanded the coupler right out putting the whole lot under tension before tightening the clamps so it's actually dead tight in there!

cool dude, i'll have to have a look.
Off to protyre tomorrow for some new rubber :)
