Hi guys wondering if any of you guys can give many any ideas of what to check,
The wife went out in it this morning to her mothers not even a mile away no problem buyt when she came back out it wouldn't start, being a typical women by the time I got there the battery was flat so I hooked up the jump leads and it is just spinning over making no attempt to start.
The only thing I have checked sofar is the fuse for the fuel pump which is ok.

Any help appreciated thanks.

potato inn the exhaust pipe? :D

I had something similar before in my almera gti. altho i only started my car for 10 seconds to shift it out of way, when i attemped to start her later it wouldnt go and turned out to be engine flooding from the start then stop. prolly not that as she bin for a drive but i had aa out and all he did, to my shame was turn the key untill it started lol

maybe worth charging her up and turning over till she starts. it sounded like it wasnt going to go but did eventually.

Edit - thats my experience from a jap car dont waste ur time on that if one of the more knowledgable chaps has a better idea.

lol sorry mate ive seen it before, i even managed to buy a car wich was suspected to be fecked but it turned out it needed petrol.

vagcom would help..... but failing that

take the sparks out, see if they are wet, if they are, i doubt they are firing so you have an ignition problem, if they aint, you've prob got a problem with the the fuel supply.....

also, like already mentioned, it may have been flooded, not common, but it happens, if this is the case, simply leave the sparks out for a whilte on a radiator, you may also want to give them electrodes a clean with enry cloth / a wire brush (do it gently)

far too cold and damp for me to **** about so i've called the rac instead see what they find hopefully nothing expensive

womans way out! it;s always good to have a tinker yourself!!

not ideal when your trying to keep a 20 month old entertained at the same time though normally I would spend all day on it

Maybe an immobiliser problem if its turning over but not firing
Only way to be sure is to get it scanned and see what faults show.

maybe get the young one involved lol

Thats what i was thinking:
