Hi guys, my first real post, and its a cry for help!!!

I bought my 2005 Audi A3 2.0 TDI yesterday, it has had the Engine management light covered up with black pen, so I didn't realise until night time, when the dash was lit up.

Anyway the dealer is a joke, conmen!! and I have my own laptop and ELM unit, so plugged it in and retrieved an p2108 error code, after a little digging about it comes back as an Audi 18540 error code.

It apparently is a "Throttle Actuator Control Module Performance" from what I've read it seems to be the motor that controls the flap?

I'm just wondering if any of you knowledgeable wise people can confirm this and is is a case of replacing the throttle body?

I am very good around an engine, replaced several head-gaskets and timing belts etc etc, I'm just new the world of VAG's TDi's.

Thanks guys

Ste

first thing i would do is take it back to the dealer and play **** with them threaten them with going to the papers or watchdog if they dont want to know , it says it all with it being covered up with pen what cowboys

Take it back or report him to trading standards better still get the police involved, or sue him. He sounds like a right dodgy c*nt

Its not as described so you should be able to get your money back or just cancel the check if its not too late.

as above but that code aint realy to bad
makes me wounder why he used pen tho
id get it back to him asap could be loads of faults
hopefully just this 1
that code can happen for no reason in the cold clear it and see if it comes back on

I got the car at a really good price, and the car seems an honest well looked after motor (HPI Insurance etc checked), as the fault is an easy fix, I'll fix it and keep the car, even after repairs, It was still a steal.

I now have the nice job of removing the clock fascia plastic to some how get rid of the black pen or what ever they have used.

TRADEBAY MOTOR's of STOCKPORT, avoid them guys!!!!

even the name sounds dodgy mate lol hope you sort this problem out soon mate oh and welcome to the forum too

I am inclined to agree if it is just the flap that needs replacing I would just get it done. I would certainly have a go at getting the money out of the garage but in my experience this can be quite difficult if they put up a fight as your only option is to pursue through the courts.

There is a good 'how to' thread on here. If it helps i was just recently looking for one myself, and this was about the cheapest I found it:

Jesus !! dont think i would ever pay £5.4k for 100k+ miles...

Situated in Manchester, we offer a wide range of quality used vehicles at affordable prices. Car sales is the main side to our business, we also have two full time mechanics carrying out repairs and services to the public so peace of mind is assured when purchasing a used vehicle form ourselves.

What about warranty mate, did you not even get 3 months?

I got a 28 day warranty buddy, but with the hassle of going back to Stockport and actually getting them to fix or admit to it its not worth my time and effort, i'll get the repair done and have many hours of happy motoring, fingers crossed.

There isn't any mention of the Audi A3 140 bhp 2.0 throttle body on the site?

And dont suppose you have the link to the how to, please

I thought that was a bit strange as well but it is definitely the Pierburg 038-128-063 part that you need. For piece of mind you could always pick it up from europarts like many on here have - about £217 there I think.

hi im new to this forum i joined a while ago but haven't registered my account until now, im seeking advise on a problem i have encountered with my car, it is an audi a3 2.0 tdi 140 its had a previous remap done by the previous owner and it runs fine, but a couple of days ago it came up with the engine management light, i have a scan tool hand held computer i plugged it in with the ignition on and checked engine faults it came up with nothing and then went into obdII setting before you click (vw/audi) and the fault code was-

P2108 throttle actuator ctrl mod perf

i then went back into the vw/audi bit after resetting the light and did a rediness test what ever that is :S ??
after the rediness test was done it came up with results

MIL STATUS - OFF
DTC CHAMBER (I THINK THATS WHAT IT SED) - 0 (ZERO)
COMP. COMPONENT - PASS
FUEL SYSTEM - PASS
EGR SYSTEM - FAIL

i wish to know what the problem is with my car and how can i resolve it costing the least amount of money as possible.
i have heard wonderful things about this forum and i am sure to receive some good information
message me or post on here

thankyou
