1.8T Exhaust Flange CAD file

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get my hands on a CAD file for the cylinder head exhaust flange for the 1.8T? I could draw it from scratch just being lazy, I've searched & searched and can't find anything.
 
I was just being lazy really & I dont have a spare gasket! I've also finished work now till the new year so I will have to wait until I get back to work to do it, not too much of a worry because It will be next year before I can get one cut now. I'm also struggling to find the dimensions of a T3 divided flange as well, I would just buy them but I can't find any online in stainless only mild steel, does anyone know where I can buy these in Stainless?
 
I guess you have plans to make your own tube manifold. I had the first one made for the A4 1.8t by Full-Race back in 2004. They are now designing a twin scroll T4 manifold for the A4 1.8t and 2.0t using my A4. It is being designed for the new BW EFR turbos and will use a small ID tube. A twin scroll 7064 is going to be a very nice setup for the A4 1.8t and 2.0t. Should spool like a 2871r and way more power since it is rated for 550hp and max flow rate of 56 lbs/min. Large internal twin scroll WG, internal BPV and has a 3.5" compressor housing inlet.

If you need just a head flange I can always get one from Full-Race. But that means shipping it from here in CA to you, but I do ship parts all over the world anyway. lol

Hey Mike, I have read up on these BW EFR turbos they do look very promising but its like anything new, I like to see some data to support the product before throwing my cash at it. I have to admitt that the full race mani's look very very nice but the price tag puts me off slightly. I can make a manifold for alot less, It obviously won't be in the same league as the full race stuff but plenty good enough for my needs. Thanks on the offer for the flange but I can have one laser cut down the road here, no need to ship from the states, seems a bit over kill. When will you have an EFR mounted on your car? I would be very interested to see the dyno plots etc.
 
I will post up letting you know when I have the setup on my car. Right now they are just using my car to mock up the new manifolds before the EFR turbos are released.

I plan on running a slightly larger EFR(83mm) then the 35r I run now. So we will have to see how my power band changes. I have dyno plots of built 2 liter with GT30r so we can always compare those to the 7064 and 7670 Twin Scroll T4 setup.

Cool, I would be really interested to see what those comparison plots look like with the twin scroll mani. Are the EFR's not already available? There certainly for sale on the full race web site, very nicely priced compared to the Garrett GTX turbos as well. I wish these were available when I bought my GT30R, I would have definitely gone that route. Do you know what size pipe full race will use to make the twin scroll T4's?
 
They are being released in Jan 2011 and taking pre-sale orders.

I will ask Geoff what size ID the pipe is that they are using on the manifold they are making on my car right now. I know it is smaller then the pipe they were using on their older 1.8t manifolds.
 
OK, so there out very soon then, I'm surprised the forums haven't been buzzing in anticipation, these EFR's do look like the next leap forward for turbo charger technology, But I do like to see some good solid comparison data before splashing the cash. If you could find out what ID pipe is going to be used on the new T4 manifold it would be greatly appreciated. What AR are you going for on the 86mm turbo? Will the full race manifold use external wastegates? it will be interesting to see how much power you can squeeze out the 1.8T, there really isn't many if any pushing the envelope here in the UK using the 1.8T in a B5 chassis.
 
I haven't seen much talk about the EFR turbos on the Audi/VW forums other then myself, but then I am a dealer for Full-Race.

Once I find out the ID size I will let you know, should hear from him on Monday.

I will be running a .92 a/r which is the only option on the internal wg twin scroll setup.

The new Full-Race manifolds will be designed for the internal wg EFR turbos.
 
It does seem the EFR's have flown under the radar, but I suspect once there released they will create more noise. If the 7064 does spool nice and early like a 2871R I will definitely be getting one, that thing can flow like a GT3076R and should make my setup very streetable, the lag of the 30R even on my 2008cc is a bit much. I will be keepin my eyes peeled for some 1.8T data once there released. You will also have to let me know how much the divided T4 full race mani's are retailing at once there developed (might treat myself), since you have the inside line on them be sure to let me know nice and early, it would be nice to be the first in the UK to run the EFR setup. Any ideas when you will be up and running on the EFR?
 
Price on the new manifolds hasn't been locked down yet, that wont happen till they have completed the manifolds and figured out exactly the cost to make them.

Here is the Runner ID info I got from Geoff.
The ID of the old headers is 1.625" ID, the new smaller runners is 1.410" ID

I've had a butchers on the site. I have a few questions though.

  • Do you offer the exhaust head flange in 12mm stainless steel, 304 will do & can I specify the exhaust port diameter?
  • Also do you have a T4 twinscroll flange in 12mm stainless 304?
  • I'm also after 321H stainless bends, don't want to take the risk with 316, what wall thickness are those on the site? Im also after 1" 1/4 which doesn't seem to be listed, 2" would be a bit laggy lol.

Unfortunately we only offer the flanges in mild steel as this usually does the job perfectly! These items are all cut to a set template so do not offer the option to change the exhaust port diameter.
Although there is nothing stopping you opening the port.
The only other parts we stock are all listed on the website, so unfortunately we do not have a T4 twinscroll flange, the only bends we do offer are 321 :) These are what we generally use for our manifolds and have had no troubles with!!

These are VERY expensive, Please give us a call with the number you require.

Thanks again for getting back to me, I will pass on the flanges matey, welding mild to stainless can obviously be done but it isn't the best practise I prefer to keep everything stainless. Are you sure those bends are 321? There all listed as 316, I realise 321 costs more than 304 & 316 but using either of them on a turbo manifold is going to end in tears eventually. I will give you a call next week regarding the cost of 321 bends. Cheers Dude
 
Just asked Geoff. No those in that link are 304/304L, that is what they sell to people looking to make their own manifolds.

On the manifolds they make at their shop they use 316H tubes and 1018 for the flanges. Geoff says that results in the strongest possible weldments, and if corrosion resistance is prefered then coating the manifold is a good idea.

They can not supply 321 SS flanges or runner tubes.
 
I recon using metal with a thick enough wall will likely ensure it wont crack, even in 304 or 316.

The problem is people making manifolds from "dairy pipe" which is often only 1.5mm thick.

3mm wall stainless is what you want.
 
Yeah making manifolds with thin wall exhaust pipe never works out well.
 
I tend to agree with you there Kev although I wouldn't use 304 for a turbo manifold just not the best material selection, just not suited for the EGT's a turbo motor will likely see. I wouldn't ever dream of using "dairy pipe" as you call it, that's just nuts and will end in tears. Mike the info you posted is very useful once again and much appreciated. It's refreshing to have a man with your experience posting on Audi-sport. Thanks again fella.
