Can anyone recommend a set of led license plate lights?

Noticed tonight one of the std lights was flickering and on closer inspection the light had rust on the inside, so water must have got in. So need to replace and thinking LED's as they look good on cars that i've seen.

I saw these on ebay, but don't want any problems with error messages or anything too complicated.

Any links appreciated!

Have you done a search ?

This subject has been discussed at length and with many threads in the last few weeks on this forum.

Do a search first and then come back and ask any further questions you may have.

People on here are very helpful but it's very frustrating having to answer the same question over and over again.

Hi! Im looking for the same thing for my 2010 A3. Have tried 3 types here in Norway but no luck. Always that damn error!!
Anyone with a newer audi that can give me a link for some non error led's?

The link didn't work but I'll try the search!

Its alot of non facelift respons on this thread:( anyone with an 2009-2010 that can help?

I have the same as VW754. Really good.

Although I didnt realise that they are one sided - i.e. you have to out them in the right way round or else they dont work............

hi, get the prism LED bulbs from halfords. they look great and no problems with the bulb warning light on dash

i fiited one of my bulbs the wrong way round,, was just about to take the bulbs back then read the packet. lol

What year cars has everyone got? Ive tried about 4 or 5 different sets on my MY10 and no luck.

get a 150ohm 2 watt resistor from maplin that shoud do the trick, cant see the 10 plates being any different...........but who knows..........maybe audi are using wiring off the french lol !

Same here slade777. Seems that audi is beeing diffecult for us with the 2010 audi:(

I think I may have to have seen someone say this before but wanted to try plug and play first. Being lazys ended up costing though owell off to get some resistors then.

What really annoys me is you see all beemers driving around with White numberplate lights as standard from BMW but not ****** Audi!!!

Yea see this all the time, the ones on the outer door handles are a nice touch

Yeh simple things like that's and the mirrors folding when locked and unlocked that's where BMW just get ahead of Audi. Owell I'm part of the Audi club at the moment so better stop the moaning or I'll end up in a 1 series

My mates got a 3 series and a3 and his A3 doesn't use the same LEDs as the bm unfortunately Already tried that one

i also like that too its a small thing but very effective and on the golf i like the lights under the mirrors they must be puddle lights but nice touch i think

Thought about retrofitting some led's under my door handles, cant be that hard surely? anyone done it? I assume you would just have to tap into the interior light somewhere

still no luck with the led palte light for the 2010? Tried a new pair today and still got error :(

It seems there is a gap in the market for LED's that will plug/play in the 2010 model, out of interest anyone know what the issue is? As in why they work in pre-2010 and not post-2010?

I can vouch for this. For the facelift A3's, my friend has what I believe, MY09 Audi A3 Sportback (with non DRL Switch).. has the same LED bulbs like I do but doesn't throw a light out error while my MY10 Audi A3 Sportback (with DRL Switch) does. Now I don't know if the DRL switch does anything but worth to note if there's anything but I doubt it.

The resistor mod is pretty simple really. Get only one 25w 10ohm Resistor, pop the tailgate cover open. It's attached by two torx screws and bunch of metal clips. Once opened, find the 4-wire cable connector that's connected to the tailgate switch and license plate. Snip/splice Brown/Gray wire with the resistor and mount the resistor somewhere safe.. and tada! Don't forget to disconnect the battery.

This should affect all the conditions that has the "Light Out" Error I think. I was like a Guinea Pig of my own when I've done mine. No DIY around.
