My 1.8t 190 Quattro has hit 70,000 miles, so its due a service.

I always send my cars to a local specialist garage I have loads of faith in during winter, as I am not crawling around in minus 15 in the snow!

So apart from the obvious oil and filter change, I would like the sludge pick up pipe thing sorted.

What is it I exactly ask for so they know what I am on about, and is it a costly repair. I know it's worth the cost, as I have had no issues yet, but also don't want any in the future, so am getting it done.

Also is there anything else I should get done?

Cheers

the timing belt must be about due if not already done and maybe look at the brake fluid and engine coolant, your service book will tell you in the front everything that requires doing at what mileage.

Cheers will have a look.

Timing belt was done in the summer, first thing i did when i bought it!

its the oil pick up pipe, you want to drop the sump and clean it aswell,

Cheers, so is a new oil pipe required, or is it simply a take off sump and clean, then clean pipe and rebuild job?

Is it a big job getting the sump off these cars?

its a sub frame off job, just replace the pipe it about £10 To £20 ish IIRC, some people replace the oil pump as well, it will come down to labour costs

yes I recently had my sump pan replaced as the car was ground as some point, I take it for its first service to be phoned by the garage to say the pan is leaking and need a new one 5 hours later pan is replaced its a long job, as the above comment sub frame has to be removed.
