Hi everyone. Just been doing a lot of reading on the forum for the past week. I currently drive a Impreza STI PPP (blob eye) and im going to be selling it after christmas. After a lot of deliberation ive decided that the S3 is the car for me. Ive considered a 350z, evo, Integra, m3, basically a lot of cars that for one reason and another i didnt feel were right for me!

Anyhow, just wondered if anyone had moved from a scooby over to the S3? Im thinking it will be a lot more refined in its drive, but with a remap probably about the same power in a straight line? Im getting to the age where an impreza despite its rally pedigree looks a bit young for me!

Im looking at getting around an 07 with ~30k miles, from looking around i should be able to get one for around 16-17k? im wanting a white one, which ill slowly change to have black alloys, black grill etc etc. At the moment im looking on ebay, pistonheads and autotrader but nothings come up at the moment. Any ideas?

I've gone from a scooby (lightly modded spec C) to an S3 and the two are very different beasts! I do miss the all out grunt and power delivery of the impreza and the car set up feels very different. The impreza would spin up the rear wheels when pulling out leading to a bit of oversteer and being able to lock the diff was handy in these weather conditions.
Having said that I would miss the xenons, sat nav, leather, heated seats, build quality, improved mpg etc. Yet to have the S3 mapped though...

S3 mapped is quite a bit different from a stock, even to the point you get a slight better fuel consumption.

Thank you, will look forward to that. I'd just like a bit more torque below 4500rpm which is when mine seems to wake up. Having just had to dig myself out of my drive I have to say I do miss the permanent 4wd system though!

Im guessing you switched the ESP off?

Get it mapped, different car, MUCH better.


I test drove a EVO X 330 SST a few weeks ago and although it was very good, when I jumped back into mine (REVO Stage 1) it still felt quick.
Says a lot about a Stage 1 S3 IMO.

16-17K seems a little optomistic unless you get a leggy and/or low spec one.

Used S3 prices are very sensitive to the level of factory options too, pauper spec cars seem to hang around for ever unless they are really cheap.
I bought mine lightly used in 2008 and after 4 months looking, saw the same low spec cars appearing in the classifieds for months. Yellow and Orange ones seemed to be hard to shift too.

Ibis white is a superb colour for the S3 especially with the optics back and anthracite rims.

Now is a great time of year to do a deal. If your Budget is 16-17k I would go and talk to them. Dealers generally price up by 3k at this end of the market and you could potentially get £2k off + a Warranty, 2 years free servicing etc etc and a year newer car. Your shout though.. I wouldn't buy White personally.. best reserved for Police cars and with the current weather a serious risk that you might lose it ;-)

Cant see the link due to ebay being blocked but RS4 seats and many extras normally win any one over lol. Whats the miles on the S3 in the link and how many owners?

19k on an 07 S3, sounds to me like its been clocked if that mileage is considered correct, step very carefully atm, check the history with the dealership whose serviced & mot records, it may be a weekend driver, but on this car best to be safe than sorry.

its an 07 plate with 19k miles, has black wheels rs4 buckets and bose but looks like clarion head unit? i think it may be a black edition as its got silver wing mirrors? dont know how many owners need to ring the garage and find out its priced at 18.5k which i reckon is a bit expensive for an 07 but they may take a deal? i was gonna look at P/Xin my car which private i think would go for about 9-9.5k what you reckon i could get from them on px? like what should i drive for? Yeah i live in Cardiff, but ive not heard good things about cardiff Audi?

If im honest i didnt get along with Cardiff Audi at all at first and stopped taking my car there for 2years. And just going to Sinclair Audi (Bridgend). All depends on who you deal with as some members of staff think they are god gift and have their heads stuck up there own ar*es. I only deal with Liz @ Services, Dan @ Parts and Stacey @ Sales/After Sales. And i get alone with them all fine and know Dan & Liz on a more personal level now. Sinclair Audi are amazing there customer service always suprises me and they will go out of there way to get everything sorted and help you out. Never heard or had anything bad to say about them.

Dont know how much you should try get it for as the vehicle has low miles but as NHN check they are genuine. I'd try get it for £17k or £17.8k as it has low miles and big spec

Last time i was up Cardiff Audi they had a pre-facelift Dolphine grey S3 and three facelift S3's up there so should be able to test drive any of them.
