Another hybrid conversion thread....

Surely the ceramic coating would only compound the problem? I thought the idea of ceramic coating was to keep the heat in the manifold! Does anyone know what material that 034 mani was cast with?

No specifics have ever been released to the public on the material used.

Design specs were that it 'could withstand 900c sustained'.

Well that alone says something I guess, If they were confident about it why would they care if people knew what it was cast out of, not like we can all go and cast one in the back garden. I have cracked two OEM manifolds before I got all silly and built the car from the ground up, but nothing like the failure posted above, its a shame really because INA / 034 offer a lot of stuff no-one else currently can. What's the plan now then fella?

Well, that's a hard one mate frankly. It all depends on what happens with the the second generation manifolds from 034 to be honest.

The JBS one will be commercially available into the new year, so that will be tempting if the revised 034 one hasn't materialised, and there isn't any news on it's arrival.

WMI in the mean time.

Oh and INA, the text thus far would not constitute as being libelous, as it is seen as a view/opinion of one person or a group, agreeing to the rules of an Internet forum. Proving this to be deliberate defamation of a person and/or brand would be impossible. It would be looked upon as a mere discussion.

Don't take this as a wind up, just a bit of clarity gents.

hi iam a new member from greece i have bought 034 manifold with ceramic coat and i have install it in the car.in few days i will fix my program and i will tell you how the manifold responds.the manifold has been coated inside and outside by ina, maybe the inside coating is that wich will protect the manifold i think.

Ceramic coating on the inside??? are you sure? never heard of that before... I would be concerned about it flaking off and potentially damaging the turbine wheel...

Good luck with it though fella...

Exactly what i thought when i read it,
A couple of the coated manifolds ive seen have started to flake ... how would you check tho coating had taken completely on the inside?

Isnt it the actual material being used thats the problem?

i think the coat is like its done with spray so if it fails it wont harm the turbo

For those of you interested in what it goes/sounds like....

Here it is:

Yes I know the thing is filthy - I will wash it tomorrow. Maybe.

Sounds good mate hope my sounds like that after i fit the TIP although i found a vac leak this evening so got to fix that in the morning

i dont know how they coat it inside i think maybe they only spray it with some paint which can stand heat .this looks to me very poor coating.

Anyway.... Back on the dyno tonight following my unexpected results from the MBC/N75 parallel install, and the extra top end boost it has helped me find.

Results later - but should be interesting. 5+ g/s air flow more.

(PS. Since I now seem to video EVERYTHING due to having a new Android HD phone :), I will most likely film it....)

I applaud you for making a lot of products for the 1.8T but that doesn't change the tone in which you are replying to people on here. Shipping a ceramic coated version of a manifold that cracks is not going to solve the actual problem is it? My opinion is that it is not but I am open to hearing how it would have :)

Any response to this one - have I missed your reply?

Sorry all, the missus abnned me from the computer last night... So I couldn't upload or post...

Anyway...

In short, no the power output is next to identical running MBC/N75 in parallel. Maybe a smidge more torque, but that genuinely is it.

Got some interesting videos I will upload in a bit for you..

Mwah ha ha ha...

Some good vids for you today then peoples. Both videos do 480P.

Firstly, a demo video of just how hot the K04 Manifold gets under sustained boost. We all know how much they can glow.... Mine in particular - this is how bad it gets...

Also - This is what happens with my car on overrun. I've never seen it properly, but I have seen the road light up behind me when giving her some beans.

She did it for us on the dyno last night, and I managed to capture it... (you can't miss it to be fair - not a small flame)
