So has anyone seen any on the road??

I was in Audi a couple of weeks ago and saw one in there, the sales person was saying that just because its the smallest car in the range, they haven't skimped on it at all, you can get the same spec on it as any of the top models.

I have seen a couple on the road and am REALLY liking it, if I had the money, I would go out and defo get one, would like to see an S model in one of these, think they would look really good.

But for now a few pics :) :

Take a closer look < Exterior style features < A1 < A1 < Models < Audi UK

when i was at the ring in august they had two s1's testing all day. they sounded good, and seemed pretty quick. and i think they're a nice car, they needed a smaller hatch to compete with the like of the mini. F**K BMW!

S1s ? Sure they wern't just S-lines ? When I was at ingolstadt in sept I asked about a quatty version of the A1 and they said it wouldn't happen due to the way they've shifted the battery and some other gubbings to the boot. This takes up the space where the 4wd stuff would be, and according to the Audi Shpiel no S model has ever/will ever be released without some form of quattro.

EDIT
Although it would appear the tech I spoke to may be wrong looking at the autoexpress article, and there will be an S1

Nice car - saw one on the road which was red with the silver rear pillar & roof side. Had a nose around a couple in the dealers when I was talking RS3. Not much room in the back - less than my old Ibiza.

Hmm agree, there isnt much room in the back of it, but at the same time, the car is small, so its expected really.

Only ones I have seen on the road, have all been driven by women, so I hope they dont end up turning into the next 'dinky fashion accesory'!!

i like em personally an S1 would be awesome. just wonder how much it would be

Hot Audi S1 confirmed - Autocar.co.uk

Thats old. They were originally going to call the 1.4TFSI the S1 but with only 180bhp and fwd it was decided it wasnt special enough. I believe they are working on fitting haldex along with the new 210bhp 2.0tfsi lump.

Same basis might be seen in the Polo R and possibly Ibiza Cupra R.

says this at the bottom mate. well kinda:

"However, Audi engineers at the A1 launch admitted that the company’s 2.0-litre TFSI engines will also fit sideways in the A1’s engine bay."

I'm sure the A1 is a good car, but when all is said and done, all it amounts to is a ponced-up VW Polo.

The A2 was a bold, innovative and imaginative attempt to create a truly new and different type of small car. Audi should have had the nerve to stick with it and develop a 2nd generation that was more commercially viable.

The A1 is just corporate cowardice.

The thing is, with everyone down sizing, Audi just wanted to get into the city car sector, and platform sharing is the most economical way for them to do it. The A2 was indeed innovative, but it was expensive to produce and buy. Had they developed the car for todays market, it would have been more successful, as people are now willing to pay a premium to own a premium branded city car.

Whichever way you look at it though, the A1 is going to sell by the bucket load. Audi have the interior and styling front mastered(ok, you can exclude the Q7). Good looking cars sell, there's no doubt about it, even if they are dull to drive.

It seems Audi is working hard to bring quality and style to small cars along with great handling.Same we can see in 2010 Audi A1 which makes Audi A1 to stand above its competitors....A1 is a car that will make owners happy and smiling by its great performance, Styling and color options..
