Alright G's, I have just had AP springs and shocks put on my S-line today and i am very pleased with them so far, only problem i have is they are
40mm F and 30mm R so the rear needs to come down another 10 - 20mm but obviously my sus is not adjustable.

Iv read you can change the rubber perches to ones from an older model (B6/B5) on the front but not sure if this applies to the rear?

Anyone know any little tips or tricks to ge the back end down a little and please no one say buy coilovers!

Thanks guys.

Try and source a rear adjustable spring perch as found on the coilover kit's. You will need the coil spring and perch as the spring's you have just fitted will not work..Try phoning Venom, Awesom GTI, to se if they can help..

Thats a good idea mate, will my dampers be ok if i go say 20mm though?

Now youve got me thinkinh i could wind down the rear and change the front rubber perches to b5 ones for another 10mm on front?

20mm on your AP shock's maybe a bit to much but if you do buy a rear coilover spring and perch you can alway's play about the hight. Question why not buy a set of coilovers in the first place. I think the AP shock's you have already might be the the same as the one's supplied with the AP cilover's So you should be ok.

I have a set of Brand new AP coilovers still in the box that I bought 3 weeks ago from DPM hastily for the exact same reason as you. I'm not happy with the way the car sits but the wife is and its her daily drive. They are not now being fitted so up for grabs if anyone interested. Please PM me for a bargain.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh mate where were you last week??? tell your missis you are the man and if you say coilies are going on then god dammit coilies are going and if she doesn't like it she'll see the hairy side!!!

Ha ha.

CMD i bought FK AK Street coilovers in summer and they were sh*te and fitted by a fool and i had no end of trouble with them, they rattled like you would not believe and felt loose, they ruined the whole care, this is the reason i didn't just buy coilovers again and i was nervous enought about springs and dampers. nothing but good news to report though :)

Yeah that sounds about right, its a nightmare, im happy now i have lowered, working, quiet suspension.

Wheels next, decisions decisions, anyone know where i can get split rims or dished wheels in UK?

What wheel's are you looking to buy. Try Rimstyle, Ebay.de, Ebay.com.

Im not sure what i want i just have a style in mind, i might end up with LM reps just because i can get them and at a reasonable price, looked at Porsche wheels too.

If i import they will cost a fortune but ill check out rimstyle thanks.

I have bought a few set's of wheel's off ebay.de over the year's and it's really that expensive.

Does that mean really not that expensive?

I'll have a blast on there, it'll be prob feb time anyway before I buy, depends how much I'm spending!

A mod for the future old boy :)

Just looking at wheels at the moment. What you guys think to inovit dtm's 8x18 et35?

Anyone know how good these are? Soft? Poor coating?

Ignore that about DTM's I bought the staggered LM's this morning.

Just need some gyres to stretch across em now.

Anyone know anything about polishing? Is this something a wheels specialist has to fo or do I just sit and polish the balls off em for hours in end ;-)

You Can easy do it yourself .. I done my rocker/cam cover a few hours every night after work. A good metal polish and fine wire wool and some clean rags..

Looks mint that mate, is it a case of taking the finish off the wheels then? dont think ill bother as its just asking for trouble in weather like this and id quiet like for them to last.

might do it in summer and use my RS6's for winter?

Just checked your sig, didn't even realise you were running reps too lol! any pics?

Nice summer project. Do the wheel's have polished lip and painted centers. as you will have to strip the paint first be trying to polish them up.
