Im trying to find why my Rear wiper no longer works!

Untill recently it would work intermittantly, Stopping and starting half way around the window at its own pleasure. Now its stopped completely. Its not the fuse, And i have tried a replacement motor (unless the ebay unit is faulty also?)

Anyone got any other ideas such as is there a Relay for it or possible breaks in the cable that is common?

Im determined to fix it myself as im sure a garage would charge a fortune to sort it

Thanks

Tried that.

I couldnt find what i was looking for. There is plenty on replacing the wiper motor and fuses but nothing on diagnosing faults or which relay for the wipers

Just fit a new one, second golf motor cost me £20.

or take the one you have off and stick two wires from the battery directly to it

I have tried a different motor and that hasn't solved it.

Its either a relay (if there is one for the rear wiper?), The second motor is also dodgey or the cable?

Unless anyone knows of any other solutions?

if you lift the wiper off the windscreen and switch it on does it work ?

No, Afraid not. I have removed the wiper arm altogether for now but no movement from the motor at all

personally id stick a volt meter across the + and - going to the wiper and switch the wiper on full.... then if theres no ampage id be checking the fuse box, the relays under the bonnet (manual will tell you what each does) and then the wiring loom after that

hey dude i found a good source where you can diagnose your wiper problem. i did my car diagnostic test using this and it helped me alot. just want to share a new idea.

I know above might be a bit of a spammer (Sorry if your not, we've had 2 over the past week) but that site he is talking about seems pretty good in away.
Ok its for the UK car market (no TDI for the A4) but if you go through all the options it tells your how much, long it and how difficult it will be to get that fault fixed.

kind of use full if you're unsure how hard a task is or how much it might cost you.

Finally someone with the same problem !
mine has a mind of its own. i was gunna get a new motor for it but a mechanic mate of mine said it was the cables that had broke therefore leading to the on and off motion.
i think its where they come through from the side of the boot mechanism or something like that i diddnt see because i wasnt there when he fixed it.
saying that it still plays up from time to time stoping and starting halfway round even though youve clicked it off.
ive just learnt to live with the f**ker ! haha

thanks axios. guys ill inform you where to get that parts. im searching for it now.

Mine did this and the popular repair kit (off ebay) fixed it lovely, the metal tube has a habit of corroding and then water gets inside and things stop moving, a srtip, replacement of bits and regrease solved it.
