With any intake you need to modify you engine cover obviously..

I swear there was a thread for the VF Intake and the S3 Engine Cover modified to fit, anyone have any pictures or can help throw me a link for it if it exists?

Appreciate if someone could.. engine is ugly without the cover! argh!

You're right, there is. I'm on my iPhone so I'll have a look when I'm by a computer.

The other option is that you fit a facelift cover. They're smaller and don't incorporate the intake.

Go onto the Stoke Audi section and check out my thread on there. Near the bottom there's a photo.

do the new covers drop straight on with no mods sub?

i'm pretty sure they will do. both the 8P2>8P3 S3 and the 8P2>early 8P3 2.0Ts haven't changed engine codes as far as i'm aware

i'm not 100%, but i asked Dave to price me up for a new engine cover and he didn't mention that it wouldn't fit.

hummm, interesting, if it does fit without any mods, bet there could be enough interest for a decent group buy with the number of people running CAIs

tbh i'm just doing it that way because i'm lazy. i think modding the old cover looks better

if i can ask a related question... where have ppl got their VF intakes from? i'm interested in getting one.

ill agree it does look better, but it means hacking up the old one and when and come to sell the car in a few years, it may be something i may want to take off and sell separately
hw comes you want the VF, thought you were wanting an evoms?

it doesn't seem to me like there's much between the different CAIs, including the twintake. they all seem to do the job with roughly the same increases in performance. i actually wanna put an EVOMS cone on to a VF CAI. that's what Regal did on the GTI they were running a few years back and it's the best looking option of the lot i think

well remembered tho lol

ah thats fair enough then, i had never thought about mixing and matching before... will have to post some pics up when youve got it fitted
i know, i remember the oddest things, well comedy and cars normally, stuff to do with my course i seem to forget

Seemingly the extreme tune is developed with the VF in mind. Not sure how true this is but all l can say is the extreme tune didnt work on mine with just a single forge cai. Twintake on tomorrow so possibly the extreme tune in the future, or revo.

Yes the Extreme tune is developed with the VF in mind, i tried to run my dbilas but it ran like s**t!! Vf on now and all is well, very smooth and powerful!

what sort of figures does this plus map aim to give?

i got close to 200 at all fours before intercooler went on, unsure how but feels quite strong (plain nuts to be honest)

anyone have the links or pics for the modified cover?!$ :p :huh:

08 8p, giac extreme, vf intake, autotech fuel pump, miltek turbo back. and now forge fmic

people need to stop putting pictures of CK's up, makes me want to cry as i want them!!

They are in anthracite. Unfortunately they dont make them in that colour anymore so i had to get the oem bbs paint code and get them sprayed once i got them! (argh!).

Simple/clean look .. i didnt want anything more to stand out .. had my mk4 gti before and was bit more noticable. That and i couldnt come to a decision for DPE's lol

no surprise your extreme tune is perfoming poorly then. its specifically tuned to the MAF readings from the VF 3" Intake, it will run sh!t with any other intake. Get a VF on there.

back to topic?

Anyone with DIY pics or any info? lol

Trimming the engine cover is pretty easy someone's posted a pic on here of where to cut an airbox albeit for a ITG or EVOMs I think but not much difference. Just hold the untrimmed cover over the intake its pretty clear.
Youll need a very stong burr or better a small disc saw to do it though.

And whys that buddy?

can you change your boost , timing or fueling settings? nope. do other motors running revo require a vf intake to make higher figures as the same motor running GIAC running the same hardware. nope.
