Is the a3 up for a shae change anytime soon? it has been 7 years and the 8p shape is getting old and boring. When are we expecting sneek peeks?

i'm guessing the RS3 is a run out model. i'd expect a new one in 2012

damn, two years. So do cars usually go for a shape change every 9 years?

No it's usually every 7, with a refresh around the 3.5 year mark.

But the A3's on it's 4th refresh now, so god knows what they're playing at...

People are still buying A3's and there are still long lead times for your own spec models, why overly change something that sells well? Just ask Porsche!

As was said previously the A3 is probably Audi's best money maker and they cannot build enough of them at the moment. Audi have been very busy with new stuff on the rest of the range A1's 5's 7's TT's Spyders etc so why not leave your best seller a tad longer i.e. late 2012 probably.

except now it's worse than the cheaper Golf with which it shares a chassis (in my opinion, ofc).

the worst thing they can do right now is ruin all their hard work building a strong business core by selling an inferior product which, sad as it is to say, the A3 is fast becoming.

Lol sub I do wonder at times why you got another a3? I wouldn't say the 8P an inferior product or worse than a cheaper golf. The A3 always been a strong seller. Audi probably not released a new chassis/shape yet because they have not needed to. With the minor refreshes they have done the 8P shape has remand quite popular and a good looking car. Ok it's been 8-9years on the same chassis/shape. But as said the a3 still in high demand. And maybe they just wanted a longer period of time to design the new a3. As they wouldn't want to bring the new shape out and it to be a disapointment. This is just my opinion of course:happy:

i got another A3 because with the money i had available it was the best car i could afford. it doesn't mean it was the best car full stop. i didn't want an old shape car, so that ruled out the GTI V and i couldn't afford a decent spec A5.

my comment about it being an inferior product isn't just related to the way it looks. there are mounting reliability issues, the cars aren't being as well built as they were (look at the numerous threads from new owners complaining of simple things going wrong with the first few months of ownership).

and some ppl may disagree but it hasn't aged as well as i thought it would, even with the single grille, then the LEDs etc. someone even posted on here that Audi's own engineers WANTED to build an RS3 because they thought the S3 was a disappointment.

i love VAG cars and i can't see myself owning another brand (save maybe an S-Class if i ever make it as a top dog surgeon) but let's be slightly objective about this. the competitors are leaving the A3 behind and Audi should have replaced the model by now.

Best sentence read for a while & for me completely & utterly spot on.

Saying they cant meet demand means nothing unless you give production figures as well ! Ferrari cant meet demand either but it doesn't mean the cars are A/ selling like hot cakes B/highly sort after C/reliable and well proven ...it simply shows another inefficiency with Audi from the the design dept to the factory to the dealerships.
